Really moving up in the world huh.
Can't really help with the shoes. If you remember, everyone was giving me a hard time last year about my tenis shoes [tries to look innocent, but fails miserably]

Have you checked the Renaissance magazines,or Museum Replica's, or what about eBAY?
If you go to Ebay- enter SCA ,put in what you're searching for.
Adorable Mary Jane's, no support thought, buy your self gel insoles, Drug Mart, or Marcs sells them.
Oh the shoes are under 10 pounds, cloth or velvet. My recommendation is cloth, you will destroy the velvet.
Hope this helps. If you need more info, email me..

What size do you need?? If you don't mind gently used I have accumulated several pairs that I don't wear and would be willing to sell. Running first aid, I have discovered what is comfortable and most of my shoes have been purchased from Bald Moccasin. I have a nice pair of those strappy sandals they sell that I would sell for $25.00 if they'll fit.

ooo i wear size 9 - 9 1/2 ( yeah i know i got big feet) and the shoes that i ave been finding myself are a much higher price than i can pay but 25.00 is right around what i want to pay SOOO.... if there is any way that you could send me a picture of the ones you are selling, the cast should get everything approved with sarah or brook so we know it is good for our persona.
also if they arent my size there is an entire cast out there looking for something to put on there feet, so i can pass the word that you are willing to sell if you would like.

Since I saw your eBay dagger find, I know you're familiar with the site..... ;D I got a pair of shoes from an eBay seller by the name of Lady Oren. She custom-makes each pair based on measurements and tracing of your feet. I was skeptical, but she had a special and I got a pair for around $30. She also added an extra layer of cork to the sole, since I'm a diabetic and didn't want to risk injury to my feet. In her store - "Lady Oren's Medieval Shoes" - the ones I got are called augram slippers, and it looks like they sell for about twice what I paid. But keep an eye out for any she puts up in auctions, they might be less. Or she might run a special now and then.... Erin

Being also financially challenged, I have found a fairly airy and comfortable solution. I bought a couple pairs of those lightweight cotton Chinese shoes ($5-10 a pair), and put a pair of Dr Sholl's very strong inserts in them. The inserts have a flexible metal or plastic piece for arch support, and really good squishy parts for the rest. After a day with the SCA or at fair, my feet stay quite comfy. I suppose they may not be great of lots of rocks since they're flexible, but they're the best cheap semi-period looking shoes I've had.
Also look for a website from The Pillaged Village, a SCA vendor who has such things for very cheap.
