As to the street bits, I only had one person do a bit with me. Deep breath...hoping not to get flamed... Due to family commitments this week, I have not kept up with the board, so PLEASE don't read more into this than face value. You may end up assuming I'm reacting to posts that I haven't read yet! But reading in large chunks this morning has allowed me to see trends, and to offer a possible explanation for what Jenn saw as a lack of cast interaction. In thread after thread, no matter what the current discussion, it gets turned to how certain people were wronged, how much better the missing ones could have done the show, the costumes, etc. If I were a less-experienced cast member, I would be scared to death to attempt to play with an angry ex-cast member! I guess you would call me a middle-of-the-road patron. I have a season pass, have attended for ten years. I care enough about GLMF to have sought out this board, where I have done my fair share (some would say more than my share!) of complaining and suggesting improvements. Yet I have never gotten to know the "core" cast all that well. I actually have no idea who the "dispossessed 6" actually are, or were. I know about Jenn, Sean and Richard...the rest could be any one of the many cast members who did not return for personal or other reasons. And I miss ALL of them, no matter the reason they did not return. But I'm starting to feel that any comment one of us makes is being interpreted as "taking sides", and I'm not comfortable with that. For example, if I say I like this year's chess board better, take it at face value. I neither know (nor care) who was the creative force behind last year's or this year's show, so my comments are not colored by politics. I went on the old board long before the war erupted to say I disliked that year's show. As a second example, I have been really disappointed in this year's parade. It doesn't even "end", but just fades away. Johnny's buried in the middle, there's no washer woman sweeping behind the alpaca or doing kilt checks, the nobility is not on horseback, and so on. But I hesitated to say so, because I knew some people would go "Aha--that's because Sean wasn't there" and assume that I was being political. Can I please say that, despite everything, I'm enjoying myself this year? Or will I get attacked for not "supporting" those who left?

Well said!
Some comments are just that. Comments. No politics involved at all.
90% of my comments are just that.
I have stated my opinion on what transpired during the off season. I don't like it, and don't think it was handled well at all. But I try to separate those feelings from how I see the faire. I try to look at it as someone who has no knowledge of any of the behind-the-scenes stuff.
Sure, I have seen plenty of things that I think would have been done differently if the old officers were still around. But unfortunatly they aren't. So I try to look for comments to help improve things with the staff and the cast that are at the faire right now.
I too am enjoying myself. Faire is like anything else. It's what you make of it. I'm not enjoying it in the same ways I used to, but I have found things to keep me happy and having fun.
I don't think anyone will 'attack' you for your comments. Some might take exception and want to state their side of it. But I wouldn't call that an attack. And don't read too much into anything directed at me. I welcome pointed conversation and lively debate. I have a very thick skin and know a lot of these people personally. So don't take any of those exchanges the wrong way.

Well said Trev! Like I always say, change is good! One cannot get into a rut no matter how much you enjoy something.. New ideas are refreshing... Can one imagine if we all thought the same? We need variety. Expand your mind. New outlook.. Be positive. Don't look at the glass half empty. Picture it half full... Look ahead and stay focused..

Can I make something extremely clear to a few people out there who think they know what's going on, but apparently don't? STOP WITH THIS "TAKING SIDES IN THE 'WAR'!!!!!" THERE IS NO WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, there are a group of us who are pissed at how we were treated, but a war implies that each side is actively fighting against the other!!!!! We were not welcomed back. End of story. Yes, I vent, but we are not plotting to take over the faire. In fact, most of us are so sick of hearing about it that they have just removed themselves from the whole situation (ie Sean who hasn't posted since March). So stop trying to romanticize this whole mess and stop worrying about "taking sides!" Because there are NONE! Now, grow up and do whatever the hell you want to! We tried to make a difference at this faire and were told to piss off. Time will tell if this was a good or bad decision for GLMF.
