My husband and I have been season pass holders at GLMF for 6 years and have seen many changes some good some not so good. Things we miss besides the cast members that are no longer there are the continuous sounds of bagpipes and music throughout the shire all day long. One lone piper walking the trails just doesn't make it. The man powered rides are gone this year too and my grandkids were bored and wanted to leave before noon. They could care less for the carnival games offered to take the place of the rides. We caught only a few shows this past weekend we too were socializing. It's so good to see many old friends and to meet new people who love this fair as much as we do. The joust we saw was good and I'm sure will get better as the weeks progress. It was obvious they love thier work. The wrap around story this year is weak and besides being asked if we saw any pirates about we have no idea what the wrap around story is. We miss the cast shows that went along with the story. We also missed many of our favorite vendors from the past. I hope they will return. I just want to say I'm so glad that this fair exists. Each year we decide to spend our vacations here instead of other places. When we walk through the gates we enter a new world without any cares(especially true if we leave our cell phones at home)

I see lots of people are unhappy about the loss of the human powered rides. I don't know the story behind that. I only know what I have heard from a source close to the PTB. What I heard was, it was a decission by the ride operators to not come back. They just were not making enough money to justify returning. For those with children though, don't forget about fairyland. It is much larger this season, with a lot of new things for the kids to do. I have some pictures up on my website.

I will post my last post on here so things can cool down. Obviously, people have taken what I have said out of context.
It appears I have offended the very people I actually support, that is the cast. That was not my intention. All of you don't realize how envious I am of your talents. I wish I could act, sing, dance, play an instrument so I can be a part of cast. I cannot. I am just an average guy. You have seen me hang out with certain members of cast because I have gotten to know them as friends. They have taken me in and I am eternally grateful. I only tag along so I can absorb, learn, dream of doing what you guys do. You guys make it look so easy.
You guys have been given a job this year that is seemingly impossible to overcome due to the changes that occurred. That is NOT your fault, but you-know-who's. Yes...I still believe when those 6 cast members were asked not to come back, the soul of GLMF was taken away. Those 6 were the primary reason for the cast's success for several years, I don't care what anyone says and I will stand by that until the end.
If anyone wants to confront me or talk to me...you know who I am...I'll see you on Saturday. My counterparts, Dawn and Mike are totally innocent of this debacle, so don't hold any ill-will towards them. I have kept them out of it.

That's not nessary BK. You have had your say and others have had their say now the air is cleaned so let's move on. Your thoughts and opinions are welcomed even though we don't always agree.

I'll say it here, just in case Joe is still reading and I'll say it here so everyone knows I'm saying it.
I prefaced my post on purpose to hopefully make it clear that I was going to let loose a bit on the various things being said. At the same time, my post was not to target anyone, although I did use some of their wording in order to partially explain the things I said.
In that, Joe, I meant no harm to you in my words and as I said in my post, would stand behind your right to have any opinion you desire. I was merely expressing my own opinion on things and much of what I said came from rumblings at the faire site as much as online.
Therefore, if you would be so kind, I do know who you are and would like to talk to you Saturday. I feel that we both care so much about things that are heads butted together since we come from different perspectives.
Just goes to prove my other point though. Text really sucks sometimes, especially in a situation of heightened emotions on topics close to ones heart.
EDIT: And yes, what Trevor said goes for me as well.

Joe, I don't belive anyone wants to confront you. Talk to you, probably.
Things are easier to understand when spoken, as opposed to the written word.
You have strong convictions, and the courage to voice them. Do not ever be ashamed of that!

I have read the about the lack of childrens rides, know well about the increased fae land holdings and still intend to bring my 5 year old daughter to faire, most likey next weekend. What I need to know is ....will "Wrinkles the Elephant" or any other pachaderm that could pass for him, be there this season. My daughter might decide to kick someone in the shins....hmmm, wait, he is rather short and she IS growning...errr... just might kick someone. Can anyone verify attendance of said peanut horder so I can start tempering tears on the trip up if needed?
Thanks in advance.

Yes they have the elephant ride.
They have also moved the pony/horse ride over a bit and given it a bit more room. (now in the once big empty area behind Piper's)
