And m'lady...people wonder about my pessimism... I don't wonder about it at all, good sir!! I'm feeling somewhat the same way myself. It's also a mixture of fear, apprehension, with a little anger thrown in. I've never felt this way about an upcoming season. It's very unsettling and disconcerting. Normally, this close to opening gates, I'd be running around like the proverbial chicken missing body parts, making my list and checking it twice to get ready for faire! (No, I'm not Santa!! ;D ) Instead, this year, we're trying to decide if and when we'll be going at all!! Some members of the household don't know if they want to go at all this year! Sad!!

Since we are talking about people not at faire, guess I'll mention that To Bee or Not to Bee will not be there either.

Since we are talking about people not at faire, guess I'll mention that To Bee or Not to Bee will not be there either. Wha???! I LOVE those folks! I think BK is right...the GLMF Website should be updated...but then, that would involve truth in advertising and we can't have that, now can we?

I haven't talked to anyone about the ticket booth yet. You say there was a delay? Since I saw you at gate, I guess that means they actually started selling ticket early? I agree, it wasn't quite the same without our old cast friends. Not bad, but very different. I've only been coming for 4 seasons now, but I did miss the regulars. There are only a handfull left on cast that were there my first season at faire. And I think, only one of them is still playing the same character. It is always sad to see people go. Moreso under bad circumstances. But from what I can tell so far, the cast this season is pretty fun. Sure, the storyline is kind of light. But that just gives them more time to play and do other bits. Though I do think the dancing is a bit overdone (but that may be due to the fact that I just happen to be in the area when they are set to dance)

As someone that works for the vendors, I can also say that I am incredibly saddened and disappointed as well. Two of the vendors that I loved dearly and worked with for two years were stuck in the same situation and were not confirmed to come back.
The Faire has only been running for two days and already I have had PATRONS come up and start badmouthing the faire because so many people are missing. A group of about 10 people all told me that they weren't coming back next year because it has "lost it's fun"
And I can say too, that standing in line waiting for the parade, that I have never heard so many people badmouthing a single person (The L man) so bad in my life. Though I have to admit I had a few things to say myself.
I love this Faire so much, but doesn't it feel like this year it's been given enough rope to hang itself with?

Trevor, I went to faire on Sunday and the Season Pass printer was not working. They did take my photo and should have the pass ready for me to pick up next weekend.
Callista - I know what you mean about the lack of vendors. The vendors they have are spead out which makes it seem emptier. There are still some great vendors there - but I do miss some of the vendors that I've seen in the past. In past years there have been vendors that missed the first weekend and showed up after, so I'm hoping a few more may show up. I'm bummed that Fiona's isn't there, but Ageless Fashions is pretty cool. Several of my friends bought some nice stuff from her.

Well, let's see... I was there both days, at opening. Day one, got there early and parked in the next county. Day 2 didn't get there until 9:15 and confused the heck out of some poor kid who could not grasp that we were patrons--he told us to go park at Brook's! ;D The box office was better than last year, but still many bumps. All we needed was stickers for our pre-paid passes. All the other windows were calling out, practically begging people to come over, but they were not allowed to pick up the roll of stickers that sat in full full view, teasing those of us stuck in line behind those who needed to buy passes. BUT--we had our passes in hand before the show started, which was not the case last year. The t-shirts at the gate were nice, except for the male PTB snarling at us to keep moving, yet making no attempt to lend a hand. Gate show was fun and will get even better as we learn who each villager is and can play with them. Kudos to Bardic Wind for joining the fun! I absolutely hated the garish carny booths with the cheap, brightly colored prizes. But even allowing for the low attendance both days, it appeared that the carny booths did the least business of all, so maybe the PTB will re-think that one. Or at least, when the polo-shirted staff is berating a vendor IN FRONT OF GUESTS for not being in compliance, maybe they'll note that some of their own booths are the worst offenders, with ice machines, corn poppers, and electric blenders in full view. All the shows were great, with their true professionalism showing as they gave the smallest crowds the same high-energy performances that the larger ones got later in the day. And those who shunned the new, unknown entertainers missed the most surreal moment of the day: Queen Anne's Lace singing "The Llama Song"

Oh man! I missed the llama song ? We did not get much of a chance to catch stage shows this weekend. Ran into tons of people who wanted to stop and visit. Not that that is a bad thing, just not used to it happening until week 3 or so. But please don't stop stopping us. We love to visit
