Well since Brook's posting my "Master" is changing his mind and is back to buying the season pass on the first day. See what a little communication can do

I am still in wait-and-see mode. Though Sword School being back really tips the scale, I want to wait until I hear some more (and maybe see some if they are still going to let us help clean up)

I will say don't think of it as a horrific season. If you plan to come back as a cast, make it the best you can for yourself, your friends, and the guests that come in the gate. At least you can say you gave it your all and if it works out all right, maybe many others will follow suit. Oh, I definitely will be back. I love faire; faire folk are family. You don't leave your family just because your house is crumbling. And I know it will be fun, even if it's stressful and filled with drama (but it's faire, and theater people; there's ALWAYS drama with theater types); interacting with people, playing with characters, all that's an utter blast, and even if we don't have Richard and Sean and all the other skilled old timers who taught us a lot of our skills... well, it'll still be fun interacting and playing and being on cast. So I'll definitely be back. Wouldn't leave if you paid me. Yeah, he was only three weekends last season as well. He works other faires, too, and he is working on a CD; he just doesn't have the time to be at GLMF for the entire season. Or that's how I understand it. *love!* Thank you. ^_~ A faire's not a faire without patrons, and those of you who come just about every day and every year are practically cast! Much love to those who 'play along' with bits and such. *blinks* Huh? I highly doubt Larry reads these boards. You might want to try the official GLMF boards, maybe PM Brook and ask him, or ask him to relay your offer to Larry, I don't know.

As a budding "playtron", I had a thought..... if GLMF is turning more toward street play and improv, what will happen to those of us who roam the shire in full garb and character? Most mundanes don't know the difference between a cast member and a season pass holder. I for one don't mind being mistaken for cast - in fact, I enjoy it! - but what if one of us in garb does something to offend a mundane or (horrors!) TPTB? It that if TPTB were upset by Sword School's antics last year, they could be opening themselves up to more of the same, only initiated by PATRONS instead of employees........ heh. *evil thoughts brewing*

Last season I guess they were delivered late and is the reason that cast did not have any. While it is an honor to be mistaken as cast, any time someone has assumed that I was cast, I always corrected that mistake. I let them know that I was just a paying customer having fun. Not one of the hard working cast members who put in long hours of rehersals for months before the faire, and that put in long hours every day of the faire, being 'on' for the entire day. The cast is one of the main things that will draw me back again this year (that and sword school ;D ) If I will be there as much as past years is yet to be determined though.

Brook says that sword school is back - but has anyone asked turk. Maybe Brook just assumes they will be back. Are they actually getting compensated this time? I would wait til I hear it from Master Turk.

Oh, I would certainly never pretend to be cast - that would be terribly unfair to those who work so hard!! But I am flattered....and usually say so to whomever has addressed me. Also, even when the cast DID have the badges/etc., that was no guarantee that the mundanes knew that the badges MEANT anything. (Heck, when I was but a visitor in shorts and a celtic-patterned t-shirt, I never 1 - read my program closely enough and/or 2 - looked closely enough at garb to know that the ribbons were of any significance.) To a lot of folks, a guy with a sword or a girl in a bodice = performer. Anyway, I was just thinking out loud. I mean, I've told folks who asked me for directions that I'm not part of the faire staff, but that I believe the vendor/stage/privy/etc. they are looking for is in xyz direction....if I was wrong, I'd hate for them to start grumbling about the "stupid faire staff." And I'm sure that happens. Erin

I remember one lady who would come dressed in garb every weekend. Every weekend I saw her I made a point to send a friendly "hello" her way.
One of the last weekends of faire she politely pulled me aside and asked why so many people felt the need to talk to her and her daughter who also came dressed. I explained to her that some people probably didn't realize she wasn't cast and that cast usually reads garb as an invitation to play.
So yes, I'm sure it happens more than any of us could bet.

Yes, I will still allow anyone who wants to help "clean-up" the site...well help clean up the site.
Oh, and the stages get re-painted every other year.
And if anyone has suggestions, specific suggestion as to things they would like to see done, added, fixed, i will definitly take them into consideration.

For anyone who missed what is going on. Check this thread on the official board. Panda's post is the 9th one down. You can click to email her your intentions to help out. Once things are more clear and the weather is co-operative, I'm sure she will be in touch to get things moving.
