Hey Trev and everyone.... With all the "mystery" over on the "official" board, I decided to drop by here and see what more I could learn. (I'm CelticWench over there, too.) Anyway, I'm getting nervous about the coming season... I'm a relative newbie to Faire - I've visited since 2001, but really started getting into it just within the past year or 2. I was planning to help out a new friend (a vendor) this coming season, but even she isn't sure about the future of ren faires in general and GLMF in specific. Ah well. Looking forward to some straightforward talk over here. Erin

Hey, Trevor! Nice idea to have a board like this. I only wish I would have found this sooner. I've been with the faire for 4 years now, last year I played Liberty Goode.
I've known about the problem for awhile now but I've kept my mouth shut in hopes that better prospects would come of it. Maybe they will. The only one I haven't heard personally from are Larry and Brook. I would really like to hear their side of the story and why someone feels the need to go mass genocide on our lovely Shire.
Hm.

I too would love to talk to Larry. I have been searching for contact information for him for a while now, with no luck.

Too bad we can't sell tickets to see Larry and Brook crap their pants when they read the GLMF Forum...
I bet it would generate a ton of $$$ and the Faire would be in the Green for years to come!

With everything that is happening as of right now "Master" has voted to wait and see about buying season passes after the first weekend.
Which is bad because we planned to use his vacation days on Saturdays since he has to work Tues-Sat. But lucky for us he's been there long enough and is good with TPTB if we need to he can change things..
TPTB at faire do not see or care how people rearange their life for this faire. This is going to be our 6th year I think(you don't count when you enjoy something} and 4 of them pass holders.

Mm, not much of an answer, was it? *sigh*
I was on cast last season and hope to be on cast next season; it's why I've mostly kept my mouth shut. I want to say so much, but I'm afraid if I do that they won't let me back on cast.
Heather's comment on the "Never too early" discussion about not believing anything you hear unless it's from the person involved? Well, "Merlin" is Richard, and he's certainly involved, and therefore to be believed.
There's a lot of rumors, I'm not sure what's true and what's not. I don't know who's behind it, Brook or Larry. Brook's a control freak, sure, but I find it somewhat hard to believe that he'd do something so stupid as driving away over half the shows, and staples such as New Riders and Sword School; that sounds more like something Larry would do. But it's possible Brook would do it, since Sword School played pranks the last weekend and it pissed Brook off... but I still find it strange that he'd be so... I don't know.
I just don't know. It's all very insane, very strange, and very very illogical and confusing. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see and hope for the best, though I keep getting this very sinking feeling that it's going to be a horrific season...

Heather is right on the rumor mill. Every year there is something everyone is thrown into panic about but it's never been quite like this.
I'm stuck in the middle with you. There is a lot I'd like to say but I wold also hate to jump the gun and then not be allowed back should I choose to. In fact I've only posted once and I kind of regret it.
Those that have supposedly left were the ones I've looked up to since I joined. Everything I currently know about improv and street (you may judge for yourself how much or little that is), I learned from them. I can't remember studying Brook or having him help me in the streets. He's hard to relate to. But there is the fact that it's quiet possibly not all him. He's easy to make into a bad guy because he can be an asshole and he is the figurehead and only higher power we seem to have access to.
So do I stand by the ones I know and trust or go out on a limb and hope that this is the best for the Faire's future? I couldn't call it until I knew more and as much as we all know, it may be just the tip of the iceburg. And it doesn't seem to be cracking just yet.
I will say don't think of it as a horrific season. If you plan to come back as a cast, make it the best you can for yourself, your friends, and the guests that come in the gate. At least you can say you gave it your all and if it works out all right, maybe many others will follow suit.

*Whew* Is it hot in here, or is it me? (Nice flames, Trev!)
Well...you are right...not much of an answer...but then when someone is backed up against the wall and the rock has been lifted allowing daylight in...AND there's no where to scurry to...I guess you have to say something...So, he's been logging in a few times a week, has he? Would have been nice to say "Hey Guys! It's still a little early and I know you are all anxious, but I'm working on it...so hang in there...as soon as I know, you'll know." But no, he has to wait until things heat up (kinda' like your background, Trev) and finally DO something. So...still in negotiation with Bardic Wind...eh? That's not what Bardic Wind was led to understand. Owain...only 3 Weekends? I know Owain is on his way to record a new CD (YEA!)...but I would have thought he would have updated his Site about when he will be playing GLMF before he left...unless he wasn't told. The Rogues...WHICH Rogues?
It's a start, but it's a bit late to play "Mr. Nice Guy" and act all concerned about us Patrons...
Will I go to Faire? Hell yes! Why punish the Cast, Crew, Vendors and Acts because some people's egos get in the way? Let's see if they can get my Season Pass right this time and open the Ticket Center BEFORE 10 AM on Opening Day!

Yeah, I thought the flames would be a nice touch. Kinda like an angry mob kinda thing Besides, I wanted to brighten things up. When it comes to asthetics though, you need to thank Britny. I just tell her what I want then she does her magic and asks if that is what I want.
