Well, if you have been holding off dropping by, this is your final warning. We will be having fun with or without you but next week, you will be plain out of luck for joining in unless you really want to drive all the way to another far away place and hang out with a bunch of people in costumes who are not us.
This week's objectives:
-Find out how stuff stands with the Owain disc and drum up some support for it among those who are not as well informed as we are.
-get myself to the Highland Joust and see how they end this thing. We keep saying it can't be topped and they keep doing it.
-If Beer Blessings feels the weather is safe, more confessions.
-Shop for a couple items I've been considering all season.
-Try to carry some of that energy from last weekend over to the final go round.
-Sunday Pub Sing... there is no excuse to miss that.
-The mandatory farewell hugs and handshakes. (coupled with promises to get together off season which never actually happens)

Well, I actually am planning on "to drive all the way to another far away place and hang out with a bunch of people in costumes" Only, a lot of them will be 'us'. Think I will make my first trip to O-ren. Since it seems to be turning into GLMF south. Soap booth, Dragon's Head forge, Griffin's Leather, Gilded Lily, Authentic Wardrobe, and a bunch of others will be there. So, I think I will make the trip this year.
But back to the topic at hand. I plan on playing hard this weekend. It's the last chance of the season. I have even taken Monday off work, because I plan on needing to recover after this weekend. Let's make the place ROCK!

Just got home. People, THAT was an epic Pub Sing at the end of an epic day. Congrats to Judy and Steve and blessings on their future. Congrats to Eben and Hailey (whose name I probably just mis-spelled) on the engagement. Congrats to the King and Cardinal for finally getting their fists and swords dirty in the chess match. On a personal note, thanks to everyone who checked in on me today. It was just a little tumble and I bounce pretty well. (Britney, I am fine, thank you.). Now... Who has the count for when next year starts?. I gotta know when I need my new garb and gear together.

It appears I had a message vanish this morning. Thanks for the countdown, Tony. I should have known you would have it figured to the second. And I am still fine, so ya'll can stop fretting about me.

Thanks for the countdown, Tony. I should have known you would have it figured to the second. You're welcome. That assumes first weekend is the 6th & 7th. I keep a tab open in my browser with a countdown site running the entire off season. I started this year's when you asked.

My son Josh started a new job ( at FIVE GUYS BURGERS & FRIES ) this summer. And, he had to work weekends. BUT, ---fortunately, he was able to come the last day of the Faire. He was there in his Assassin Creed outfit, me in my sunflower priestess robes. What a fabulous time we had. So great to see old friends : Pirates, & Lords & Ladies, Scamps & Scroundrels, Queens & Kings, Potentates & Bellydancers, Gypsies and Thieves... Highlights of the last day : ---Hanging out with Dee & Mike, Paula & Chris, Juliet, and Lord & Lady Higgins at their shop and shaded patio. The Lord & Lady are always so gracious and their shop is exquisite. Love their long hat pins... Ren Ladies use those as protection against too frisky lads, you know !!!!!!!! --- ---Seeing the sparing between the Musketeers & the nubile harlequins at the town square---hilarious !!! --- ---Lady Ophelia's Dance---always fun !!! ---The Washing Well Wenches prayers to the beer gods for brew... ---Talking to Lubiya the Gypsy and getting a red wrist tie with the hand of Fatima charm. ( Keeps away " bad eyes " ) ---Enjoying the music and dancing of Cu Dubh ---Sensational Energy at the Pub Sing !!!!!! WOW !!!!!!!! ---Great Chinese Auction to help Owain ---Telling a few traditional stories. ( I always do. ) LONG LIVE AVALOCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ---

So, Dave. Are you ok? Had an awesome weekend. The weather was fantastic! A bit of a shortened day on Saturday, due to my wife coming to faire. But we still had fun, and so did she. That just gave us more energy for Sunday, and boy did we need it. So much happened on Sunday, that when I was going through pictures from early in the day, it seemed like those events happened a week or 2 ago. Played red torch / green torch with the cast in town square. Got involved with other hijinx as well, but too much to list. Managed to hit all the 'must do' items for us. Final joust, final chess, final Johnny Phoenix show, and final pub sing. Which, makes for a very busy day. Especially since joust and chess start at the same time, and are on opposite ends of the shire. And of course, it was the only time during the day, where the sun was shining full force. Didn't get a chance to talk to nearly as many cast as I had hoped to. Was trying to tell them how much I appreciated all thier hard work, and how much joy they had brought us during the run. As always though. There was too much to do, and not nearly as much time to do it all. This whole season was just so much foun. I wasn't ready for it to end. And I haven't been able to say that for a few seasons now. Can't wait for next season to get here.

I am very, very fine and with the help of a little naproxin, at least working at 90% capacity. (turning to look directly behind me is still a little too much but that might have been the earlier fall)
Some stuff I have waited to mention until I had a full keyboard...
-Rusty nailed his portrayal of the King. It really came home in that final joust where he not only threw a perfect fit while insisting to fight but then replicated someone else's fight with minimal (if any) practice.
-Tim as the Cardinal was a treat all season and I hope he returns next year, I enjoyed his company.
-Cu Dugh needs to return for a full run if possible. they are filling that energy band spot that used to belong to the Rogues and Circa Paleo (not that I would mind seeing those groups return as well) We need at least one band of that style in the park, it changes the attitude of the audiences and the players. (even if we are just hearing it in the distance)
-I love our cast but we need a cast list so I know how to address whom. I spent two weeks looking for a Musketeer Captain before I realized there was none.
-If they can schedule it, I would sort of like to see the Staff bring back that historian that lectured on various Medieval and Rennaissance activities and things like that. If it's a year when budgerts are tight, they may be able to get someone to do that and fill a small gap in the schedules with something we could actually learn something from (similar to the glassblowing seminars and such)
-I already did this in person but I want to publicly thank Terry Griffith for doing what he does and for stepping into an impossible job with the final song at Pub Sing. We are lucky to have him.
-The final Highland joust was the perfect ending to a year of goofy laughs and I am glad I witnessed them all. Russ, William, Patrick and the crew took a bad situation and made it work with nothing more than irreverence and stupid fun humor. (and I would happily fall off another platform for any of them if it made their show work)
- but I am saving my biggest thank you of the year for the most unsung and underappreciated members of the staff... the Privy Faries. I won't shake your hand but never have so few done such a nasty job for so little. thank you.

On that last note, someone brought that up on the GLMF FB page, and it got a lot of responses. A lot of visitors commented on GLMF having the cleanest port-a-potties they have seen at any event.
