Well, somebody had to start one, may as well be me.
I'll be arriving some point in the afternoon on Saturday. Barring issues, I'll do the same sunday. (and I will see you when I see you on the grounds)
Point to note: The forecast for Saturday is now looking at 94-98 degrees! Plan on dressing light and loose fitting if you can. It will not be the day to show up in full metal armor, 6 layers of velvet, or full pirate coat with doublet and wig.
With this in mind, Remember to drink plenty of fluids! that said, Beer, colas and whatever you just got handed from somebody's flask are not, I repeat, not conducive to staying hydrated. It only makes matters worse so if you are planning on imbibing, trade off on some water or lemonade or something throughout the day.
If you are not feeling well, speak the hell up. If you get a dizzy or lightheaded spell, say something. Pretty much any of the regulars and cast will be willing to run and get you a little help or find you some water.
Public service announcements completed, I look forward to handshakes and sweaty hugs tomorrow (and judging the heat, we are gonna have to concede that we will be sweaty)

Just out of curiosity I have seen several different forecasts what are the chances of thunderstorms? I have heard everything from 20-40%. I live in lake county so it's a long way for me to go and have it storm all day.

According to the National Weather Service for Saturday, July 7th Rock Creek OH:
Sun and clouds mixed with a slight chance of thunderstorms during the afternoon. Hot. High 96F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30%.
FYI...Dwyn and I will not be there on Opening Day...the heat and humidity is just too much. We will be there on Sunday...

Thank you Captain Morgan. Should be able to get some time in before the storm just saw it shouldn't hit before 5 or 6 or so. See you all tomorrow.

Lake county is not far. If you think that is far, you need to rethink your distances. at worst you are looking at a 45 mile drive.
Besides, it's more fun when it rains and everybody gathers in the covered spots to hang out until it passes.

Never said it was far. Just didn't care to get there and have it start lightning. I will have my dad with me who will not stay if it starts to storm and unfortunately I am riding with him. It is only about 30 minutes drive. If it were up to me I would stay rain or shine but it's up to dad since he is driving

I just hope they manage to have programs. Not like last year where I had to spend the first weekend of faire wandering about with pen and paper in hand writing down who was appearing on what stage at what time. You've been doing this for 20 years now, try and get your shit together. HANK.

No more purple currency!. We are back on standard cash now. I'm going to reserve comment on any new entertainers until I actually see their full show. Cast chess was described as improved from the last couple years (by a former participant in those shows) so I think we are in good shape for entertainment. Pickle booth is now near the fencing ring ( I know some of you need to know that). Pub sing has been shifted back to the stumble inn (which I fully approve of) if you get a chance, mess with the Cardinal, he's a lot of fun. For those interested, there is an enclosed garden full of butterflies you may opt to wander back near the ox cart. (Olive and company are, as ever, a great stop in your day). I caught about a minute of the new weapons show and got a lecture about the longbowmen of england, good education with demonstration is something we have been missing here. With the temps down today, you all had best show up and force me to park far away this afternoon.

The guy on stilts is lots of fun as well.
You forgot to mention that Owain and the Plunder Dogs are now on Stumble Inn stage as well.

The man on stilts' name is Joffrey.
The Butterfly encounter is neat. $4 to feed the butterflies and you get a wrist band for the day.
I saw nothing on the Harmony stage, but it is kind of hard to tell since some of the stages did not have names or times on them.
The chess match is OK. I have seen better. It is still a little entertaining. I am not too sure about the "little" fight on the chess board that is played at 2ish. May have to watch it again.
The archery guy on the joust field is entertaining. He also has a booth that sells real weapons. It is by the maze.
The Knighting Ceremony is Fairy Land now. The Cardinal helps with it. He is very good. He can be very funny. I enjoyed him. Fairy Land also has a magician for the kids. He is ok. (Not the same magician that is on a big stage.)
I really enjoyed Silent Lion, Plunder Doggs, FoolHearty. Always good to see them.
Was not thrilled with Pub Sing. Not enough singing. Did not care for cast just hanging around until the last song. Really don't need them standing up front and singing with Owen. Much prefer them going around and mingling and clinking glasses.
All in all it was a pretty good day.

My thoughts. It was way too hot Saturday, but was worth the agony to see all the familiar faces. Things I liked (besides the stuff that I like every year ) Owain and Plunder Doggs on the Stumble Pub Sing back on the Stumble The guy on stilts The butterfly area. Good idea for the kids No money exchanges Some of the cast characters. I didn't get a chance to get into the story line or anything like that this weekend. But I just know that with some of the people, playing the characters that they do, there is going to be some fun to be found there. The seige weapons. I didn't get a chance to check it out, but I already know I will be spending more time watching that, than I would have the joust. Sorry, but the joust has held no interest for me for a few years now. Just too scripted, and too fake. Things that concern me. Seems to be some empy stages this year. Hope there is more coming to fill them. Same with vendors spots. Seemed a bit lighter on booths opening weekend. The emptyness that is fairyland this year. I miss having our cast fae back there to play with. They were always so much fun. No encampments. Pirate, gypsy, viking, whatever. There is not hoard of anything to interact with and check out. Lack of soda stands. Yes, the lemonade stands are in the same places, but very few of them are set up to dispense sodas. I hope that is just one of those last minute things that will be taken care of this week. (I know, caffeine is not good on hot days. But neither is a caffeine headache due to the lack of it. So I need a mug of pepsi/coke sometime in the late afternoon to feed my addiction) Appears they are sticking with the same chicken tenders they had last year. Which weren't the really good ones they've had in years past. Would still like to see a proper program, but at least they did have show schedules available from the start of the day. Oh, that reminds me. Another excellent thing that probably wasn't even noticed. They were actually selling tickets well before gate! Remember in years past how there always seemed to be some glitch that lead to huge lines of people waiting to get tickets in the morning.

Trevor, I think you should cut and paste your statement onto the GLMF facebook page. This way, the owners can see it.

Stage signs and times should be all up now. Helped post a few myself. Harmony stage is not being utilized at this time. As for the chess match, it's a very "living" entity of it's own. Every year it suffers a rough birth week one then slowly grows over the next 6 weeks gaining coordination and developing into something special. I expect that once the troupe learns to reset their timing and attack motions from broadswords to rapiers, we will see some real cool stuff.
