Just a quick heads-up for anyone looking for us today. We are going to be moving kind of slow, at least for the first part of the day. My wife, and her father are coming to faire today. And since she has her foot in a cast, she doesn't move too well.

It was nice to meet you and Britny, Sir Trevor! I somehow missed this post this morning, though, and didn't realize that was family you two were with. I had mistakenly thought you were with other faire friends.

I am so glad I came out for this today. My two nieces and I had a fantastic time.
We started out with a little shopping, with my younger niece getting an outfit from Wenches at Work (think that's their name) and me getting an inexpensive pirate-like shirt (though it seemed to have some difficulties keeping my prodigious belly in check) and my older niece getting some elf ears.
I may have the order wrong here but we were able to catch Circa Paleo (woot), the joust, Lord Marshall Law's peasant trial, the Naughty Bawdy Babes (think that's their name), Danger Slash, Axel the Sot and Johnny Phoenix's fire walk. We tried to see the Washing Well Wenches but it was pretty full when we got there and my nieces couldn't see anything so we bailed on that. I happened across the Romeo and Tybalt fight looking for the Black Ox (coldest cider ever - huzzah) but my nieces missed seeing that as they were scarfing crepes.
Things we wanted to see but missed were Wonderfool, Broon, Marshall Law's wench auction, chess, checkers, the Lake Erie Pirates and... well, pretty much everything else!
We ended up leaving around 6:30ish as one of my nieces - for reasons that elude me - failed to apply the sunscreen we had in the car and was basically crispy fried by then. (Quick shout out to the fine folks at Ear Art that saw how red she was getting earlier and donated some of their own sun screen! THANK YOU!)
Still, blisters or not, we all had a great time and are considering coming back out next weekend. Besides, we still have avaloch notes that need to be spent.

Oh, I think that is a great plan. And if your niece doesn't want to use the sunscreen, we can arrange to have Johnny speed up her cooking time on the firebeam. Almost forgot, I am in a mood to play with patrons sunday. I am bringing along my just made them tonight "pirate name dice", a deck of cards to teach a few historic games and some dice for a few other games. If you want to learn a few classics, just ask. If you want a new name, let me know and if you are bringing along small kids, we definitely need to give them names. (credit where it is due to Lisa Ford for the name dice idea)

It was great getting to meet you. And glad you all had a good time. There really is way too much to see in one day. Those of us who attend every day, kind of take for granted just how much we have going on every day.
My wife and her father had a great time. She didn't get to see a lot, as getting around with a broken foot was rather difficult. But she got to see a few things she hadn't seen before. My father-in-law was amazed at it all. The size, the buildings, everything going on. He really enjoyed the blacksmiths, and the glassblower. I was only too happy to take him for the glassblowing. As I had mentioned to Brit a couple weeks ago, that I wanted to catch one of their shows again. It was fun, relaxing, educational, and very cool in the heavy shade.
Was awesome seeing so many old friends running around the shire again. And we actually caught closing gate for a change. All around great day, even though we were basically playing tour guide until like 5 PM.

I'm in the mood to play with patrons Sunday. Bringing some pirate name dice I literally just built (idea for that courtesy of Lisa Ford). And some game bits to teach a couple of dice and card games that are period appropriate. If you want a priate name for yourself, feel free to ask. If you are escorting kids, we totally need to name them and recruit them into the crew.

I'm gonna blame the company I was keeping Sunday afternoon, but I am pretty sure the King was stalking us. I really could not turn around without finding him standing there expecting to be bowed to as is his right and demanding a tax for something or other.
I think, judging by my physical state the last two days, I hit closer to heat exhaustion than I thought I was. Of course, I ignored my own advice and did not hydrate well sunday so it is all my fault. Feeling fine now however.
The name dice went over well, may do a simple set for Scot, Irish and possibly welsh/gaelic surnames for this weekend. (time may be a factor on that, It's 7:20 tuesday and I think I have about 5 hours free time before saturday gate.
I will however still be toting around gear to play a handful of period games (my one true passion in life) and be happy to teach anybody who asks.

I'm so glad I got to see everyone last weekend!!! (And of course, bummed that I didn't get to see more. Living so far away - with a toddler - stinks.) Hank and Bunnie, thanks for stopping to chat! And Trevor, I'm so glad you got me and Wee Bit on camera....harhar I wish I'd had a chance to stop and get a hug from Mitch, but he was in the middle of conversations with others every time I saw him and I had my hands full with the toddler. You know Mitch would not have minded the interuption. And whoever he was talking to would have understood as well.
Glad I got to see you too, if only for a short bit. Sadly we were rather tied up most of that weekend too.
