It's a fun weekend. If any of you are there Sunday I am insisting you attend the checkers match for the theme fight. Pure genius and so obvious you should have seen it coming on fantasy and fun weekend. It was also good fun visiting with several kids that were just starting on the concept of garb. And before I forget, the schedule has changed again for events but I think we are locked in now.

Had a ton of fun today. Despite the heat. Even showing up an hour late, we saw so much. Things seem to have really hit their stide. All the new costumes for various cast memebers, to match the weekly theme is great. Not sure what I think of the new schedule yet. I really wish they wouldn't have moved checkers back to conflicting with the Slash/Broon show. If I am still there at that time, that is the show I am going to.

There are people that were discussing that who I had no idea were even aware the involved parties exiated. This may be the nuptial event of the year.

I went through the pictures but it wasn't until the end that I realized I had the bride and the dowry mixed up!

As I sit here now. After my shower, and enjoying a plate of Fryer Pluck's chicken and potatios. I am reflecting on this past weekend. Yeah, it was hot, humid, and kind of miserable. But man, I had a lot of fun. I didn't see a lot of shows, I was busy doing other stuff. But the ones I saw were great. Slash and Broon, Highland Games, bits and pieces of all the musical acts both days.
Between those show, I got to play with cast (love the themed characters BTW). Visit with vendors, and look over some of the stuff for sale. Hang out in Higgins' garden and visit with lovely ladies. Listen to Satyr tell one of his tales at the Dragon Head forge. Sit and visit with the great folks at the Black Ox Cottage, St Saidies Soap Booth, and Artisan of the Knights. We had our portraits sketched by Avis Beakon. Got to see and visit with a ton of old friends who came to visit this weekend. Not to mention we also had a ton of great food all weekend.
Can't wait to do it again next weekend!

The wedding... What can I say?. It was wrong on so many levels but so funny. Broon and Slash had a great set to end the day. The choir is in great form and the handful of cast shake ups in certain events were nicely covered. I also got mugged by Bunnie during the wedding. This may be a day I never forget regardless of counseling.

Favorite memory from this past weekend? Singing Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" with Higgins behind his booth! With cat like tread, upon our prey we steal.....

Captain Morgan, I see your G&S Light Opera Higgins sing along and raise you the fact that Higgin himself fanned me with the fan I bought from his shop. Take that, sister!
I now challenge you a duel of your choice. Hopefully, it is rock/paper/scissors.
Last weekend was HOT, but unbearable. I wore my black velvet dress but had my Plan B outfit (a short fairy dress) and my Plan C outfit (okay, it was shorts and a t-shirt) in my car in case I couldn't take the heat. Since I started a new row of parked cars both days: In Disney-speak, I parked in Pluto, I was okay to stay in my original outift.
Last weekend, I really enjoyed Axel's R-rated show, seeing some of the fae cast at work, and hanging out at the Sherwood Stage. I am so sorry to hear Menagerie Music is leaving half way through the run. I enjoyed them more than ever this year. Lisa and Jon are funny and real even when they are not performing.
Once again, huzzah to the folks whether they are performers, staff, playtrons, paytrons or vendors who take the time for a quick hello or a 10 minute conversation. In looking around last weekend, there are plenty of folks like me:those with spouses, kids, co-workers, friends, etc. who we leave at home because we would rather experience the faire by ourselves than explain our experience to others we bring with us.
Seriously, I'm surrounded by students, my husband and my teen daughter most often throughout the year. GLMF is MY time. Thanks to all for helping me feel independent but not alone.

Oddly enough, we kind of like starting a new row of cars in the parking lot. Then again, we usually leave well after final canon on Saturdays. And are usually at the Soap Booth. So when going out the back gate, it is really nice to be on that end.

Menagerie's not coming back this year??? I thought they were here for the whole run. I hope everything is okay. Now I regret missing last weekend even more.

Menagerie's not coming back this year??? I thought they were here for the whole run. I hope everything is okay. Now I regret missing last weekend even more. Their web site/blog indicates that the whole run was the original plan but they have had to rethink what the best use of their weekend time was due to some pressing commitments back on the home front. (Hope they don't mind me throwing that out there.)
