Ok, everybody is calling for insane heat this weekend. (along with a chance for storms due to that heat, which I give less chance to happening). So let's be smart about attending this weekend. Leave the heavy, fancy costuming at home or pack alternate lightweight garb for when you realize that velvet is damn hot. I would also recommend you PREHYDRATE. Extra fluids on thursday and friday, less caffeine during this time also. Plan to cut back on the alcohol. Those with mugs and bottles that plan to fill them at Piper's start with them full of water and drink that in the first hour on site. Then spend some cash and keep youself hydrated. Bring a washcloth or cloth napkin you can moisten to wipe your skin. Eat during the day. In this heat you need to be thinking 8 ounces of liquid every hour to hour and a half. And something to eat every 6 hours minimum. You will be losing salt as well as water, after all. Toss an apple in a pouch, or some raisins or trail mix. Remember to sit down and rest in the shade for extended periods. CAST, THIS GOES TRIPLE FOR ALL OF YOU.

This gets it's own post because it is most important. If you gets lightheaded or woozy, ask someone for help. Don't trust yourself to handle it at that point, your judgement is better safely secondguessed than risk making things worse. And if you see somebody that looks glazed and out of sorts, check on them. They may not realize how bad they have gotten. (or they may just be a bit spacy and fine).

Yes, please stay hydrated! We're always telling cast to be smart. One cup of Gatorade to two cups of water. And lots of fruits and veggies. Watermelon is fantastic! And apples, and strawberries, and bananas (especially if your muscles cramp.) If you're not peeing just about every hour, drink more. And watch your urine, it's gross I know. But if it's clear, you're keeping hydrated. Pace yourselves and sit in the shade if you need too. Try to stay away from anything carbonated, if you really want the pop, make sure you drink some water afterwards. And if you're really feeling thirsty, drink room temperature water. Your body uses energy to convert the cold water to body temperature. If you drink warm water, your body can hydrate itself faster and not take up so much energy. Look out for people, like blueguy said. If you stop sweating: That's Bad! If you go pale: That's Bad! Just be smart and look out for each other and you'll be fine! See you all this weekend! Hey. If I survived work yesterday. I'm pretty sure I can survive faire this weekend Had a guy pass out on the line Wednesday night so yesterday the company had someone driving around tossing bottled water to everyone. Wasn't much cooler today but no water guy anywhere in sight! Oh well, brought my own anyways and refilled it every chance I got.

Ok, It is supposed to start cool in the low 70's then escalate to around 90. DO NOT GET FOOLED BY THE COOL MORNING. It will get hot unless something odd happens to the weather front overnight. Speaking of weather. The grounds got hit by that storm that went through around 5 pm friday. It did not drown the place but should keep the dust down and raise hunidity like a monster. It also had strong winds. Expect to find limb debris. Vendors may find damage to roofs and tent issues waiting for them.

Yeah... Light eating is good in the heat,---food makes heat. We DO need to eat,---though... Fresh fruit is a good choice.
I know... I KNOW... COLD BEER IS GREAT,---but remember alcohol can dry you out too ! Plus,---the bugs LOVE it when you've been drinking,---YES !!!!!!!!!!!!...
Water is the best thirst quencher. Wear cool cotton, or linen, ( If you can ). These fabrics breathe. Sandals are a good choice to keep your feet cool.
But,---( sigh !.. ) I DO love the look of those knee-high, black pirate boots !
