The faire is in the paper again. starbeacon.com/local/x1818102520/Legal-problems-plague-Medieval-FaireSadly, it is not a good story. Seems the faire is still having financial problems One bright spot though, is this quote I plan on doing what I can to make this year my best year at faire. If it ends up being the last season, then I want it to go out with a bang. And who knows, if enough people feel that way, and show up and support the faire,, that could be what it needs to get over this hurdle and keep on making the magic for us.

Hope Larry can weather the storm. Ever wonder what it might have been like if the trustees had embraced the Faire rather than fought it all this time?

Wow, that article was depressing. I'm not going to go into all the negative things that I am thinking about the township and this petty war between the Larry and certain trustee's. This likens to the the Palestine/Israel dispute. Both sides believe they are right in their beliefs, there is no compromise, there is no peace. The losers are the common people that just want to live. PS: I know the scale of my example is much larger than the actual situation but the principal is the same. I hope no one hurts themselves and reads too much into my example.

If the unthinkable happens, 2013, Whats the worst that can happen? One year without, he can move those permanent structures, mayhaps, elsewhere away from those buffoons. Ez ier said then done.. We still have each other, we can meet up at other faires and weather the storm as best as we can.

Neither are we. Given the changes and the cost...I'd rather find a time to get together sans garb and really enjoy some place and the food and the music!
Captain Stout is playing at Claddagh's on January 29th from 5PM-8PM

If the show shuts down, the ones who will really take a hit are the vendors who own shops on the site. Those shops will have to be written off. That works for tax purposes, but it doesn't leave them with cash in hand, like they would have if the buildings could be sold. Even if the show is continued in another location, they'll have to start over from scratch. Nobody will compensate them for their loss.

I for one am going to hold out hope that the worst doesnt happen until I see a notice that the faire wont exist.
Random thoughts on the subject: - Feel sorry for the vendors that built permanent structures. - Wonder if there is another faire owner interested in buying our faire? - Wonder where they would move it too? - What faires will I have to go to to get my "Faire Fix"? - July will sure be a long boring month. - Will there ever be peace between Larry and the Trustee's?
Enjoy today and let tomorrow worry about itself.
Have a great day!

If it were possible I would use the allotted Faire run to do the following IF a new Site had been found:
Take down, pack and transport every piece of Avaloch to the new Site and rebuild...kinda like a M*A*S*H unit!

That's the biggest advantage of a "soft" show - i.e., all tents. If a site becomes unsuitable for some reason, you can just find a new one and there's no harm done. The Florida Renaissance Festival has had three sites in 20 years.
I was at Great Lakes Year One with my shop, in a nice site in Madison, right on Lk. Erie. Wish we could have stayed there. When it moved to the current site, I tried for several years to get a shop built, but never managed to do it. Now I thank my stars that I never found a reliable builder.
