Greetings all! Looked like this was the thread-o-introductions, so I figured I would do just that.
Been attending medieval and renaissance faires for around 14 years. So at 29 that's nearly half my life! The first faire I attended was Kyng's Company in Streetsboro in 1997. Not long after that I found GLMF and it has been my home faire ever since. I've also attended the Bay Area Festival near Tampa, and been to the Tennessee Ren fest on a few occasions. My persona is Osmer DeVere, though in mundane circles I am simply Bob. My fiance Courtney also loves the faire. The attached picture is the two of us this past weekend at the Ren Fest in Middlefield. Speaking of which...
The past two years (2010 & 2011) I haven't been able to come up to GLMF due to time and money constraints, but it's nearly killed me to miss it. Then about a week ago friends of ours told my fiance about the Middlefield ren fest that is currently going on. One of the soap girls told them about it during a rainstorm bathing at GLMF. If it hadn't been for the soap girls we would have never known about it, and hadn't it been for a post on these forums we would have never known the details.
So from the four of us (who had a blast) thanks for playing a part in scratching my faire itch!
I look forward to digesting the large amount of posts here and taking a peek behind the GLMF curtain!
-Bob

Glad we could help you find your way to a faire fix. In case you haven't discovered it yet, if you click on the banner at the top of the page (the castle, not the advertisements) it will take you to my website, full of pictures from faire. Also, if you do some digging around, you will find a few other smaller faires closter to you. There is one in Medina that should be coming up in a few weeks. Thread is here tay666.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=faire&thread=587&page=2Then in the spring, there is one at Ohio State University also.

Well met, traveler! I'm still pretty much a noob to faires but have been hanging out here for most of this year. I tried to peek behind the GLMF curtains as well. All I saw were hamsters.

well met Ozmer. I think I saw you wandering about Sunday. glad you had a good time. When in doubt, just strike up a conversation with anyone you see. Most of them are here on a regular basis.

Welcome! If you saw someone wandering around in a red shirt with a Star Trek emblem on it, that was me.

Thanks for the info, welcomes and introductions. I believe I did see the red shirt there taking tricorder readings... or maybe it was a camera and he was taking pictures.
