Now that the Great Lakes Medieval Faire cast list for the 2011 season has gone up, it’s time for me to make an announcement with regards to The Olde Caravan. For those who have been attending GLMF for the last four years know us as the resident gypsy camp at the faire, and an autonomous, independent act since 2007. That being said, it might surprise some people to see my name as part of the volunteer cast. Which brings me to the announcement: The Olde Caravan is officially on hiatus for the 2011 season. On August 1st, 2010, I became engaged to Jeremy Young. We met at GLMF in 2004 when we were both part of the volunteer cast, and began a relationship in 2008. We are getting married this September about a month after GLMF closes. My two most experienced gypsies, Angie Austin and Ruben Ryan, have agreed to participate in the ceremony, and Jeremy is now an important part of the faire’s production staff. As wedding preparations move forward, it has become clear to me that I will not have the time necessary to train new performers adequately and improve the show as much as our audience deserves this season. That being said, GLMF is an important part of my life, where I’ve met the people I am now closest to, and so I am looking forward to being part of the cast again, and to perform for my own pleasure. The Olde Caravan is not gone forever; our characters will merely sleep for another year, and come home to Avaloch again soon.

Thanks for filling in the blanks there. I saw your name on the cast list and was wondeirng about gypsy camp.
Again, congrats to the 2 of you. You make an awesome couple. And I can appreciate your position. If you can't do it right, better to not do it at all. Looking forward to seeing you in the lanes. And to seeing out gypsies return next season.
