Ok everyone here is the question.
What time do you think is a resonable bedtime during SCHOOL days for a 16 year old?
Also curfew on SCHOOL days?

my bedtime was supposed to be 9pm. somewhere in high school it was more like 11pm. unless i was somewhere specific like prom (2 am) then again, my mom trusted me to not do anything stupid so it was cool as long as i called to say i would be running a little late.

My kids haven't had a bedtime in ages. I think they quit having one at around 8 or 9 years of age. Never had much problem with them getting up for school. Now as for curfew, I think I tried to have my son in around 10 last year, but his mother usually let him slide to 11 most of the time. I'm a little more strict on things like that than she is. I always made him call home if he was going to be late. So almost every night I would get a call at about 9:55 saying he was in the middle of a movie and would be home when it was over. Since I couldn't get the wife to back up 10 o'clock I would let it slide, but I still made him call just for the shear hastle of it all, plus it still made him show some responsibility.

My probly is in the past when I gave my son a inch he would take a mile and that is what got him the 9oclock curfew but so far since school started he has played me fair and has been in by that time. True a little griping but still not like the past with him.
Maybe I can do a compromise with him by that on the two nights before his games(on varsity and jr. varsity footballl oh vey) to be in by 9.
See all 5 of my kids were always closer to me then their father even though I was the main dicipliner. He couldn't compromise and he doesn't listen to well to what is being said. And with his job it always has fallen on me.
Just getting others imput on this. He is the youngest of the 5. Thanks

Well, you could try what I do with Britny whenever she gets out of line. I just smack her in the back of the head, or kick her in the butt. Never have any dicipline problems with her Seriously though. Sounds like he is trying. Maybe if he stays good, you can let him stay out a little later one night a week. If he slips up, then that gives you something to take away from him.

Okay...it's been ages since I've been 16, but I think it has to do with:
1. Is your homework done?
2. If they want to be "out" on a school night...What are the laws concerning curfew of minors in your area?
3. If a 16 year old goes to bed late one night and then complains about being "tired" the next day, well then...it is a clear sign that a bedtime limit is needed.
Personally...I'd say 10:00 PM but the most important thing is to HAVE THE HOMEWORK done!

in our village persons under age 18 can't be out roaming the streets after midnight without an adult. that is specific to the town laws... check to see what your local curfew is? Luckily for me I lived inthe township and it didn't apply to me

Oh mighty welder of the sword school homework hasn't been a problem so far. What's nice our school has a website to check completed assignments and grades. So no proble there. Our town is 10:00 to. I think I'll start with 9:30 curfew and see where that takes us and the waking and what time he goes to bed(as long as it's before 11:00) on his own. Thanks for the imput. With the other 4 I was more relaxed but with him being the youngest it's a little hard letting go---and comming up to his chest only And SSG remember not to beat them up TO BAD at sword school.

That is pretty rough. My son's one friend is 14 or 15 and his is 8:00 on school nights and 9:00 on weekends. That's why he likes staying over on the weekends because their usually no bedtime. But boy can that boy eat
