For those not super local, the middlefield event is sposored by a couple of small businesses and is located in an out of the way but easy to find location. Opting to visit on a saturday also offers a large flea market a half mile or less down the road and a handfull of other antique and specialty shops. (plus the cheese haus). It's a small event but we tend to make our own fun anyhow.

Well, assuming it is taking place, and I hope it is, I actually prefer late september. I have 3,012 things to do in october already. ( I have 2,987 to do in september but nothing that weekend)

Yep, those are the dates. The past two years it was held in Oct, but I'm pretty sure there were a couple of years before that when it was held in Sept. They seem to stick to late Sept/early Oct.

Well, back from ORF and even tho' it was wonderful to hang with our good friends Mehan and Ewan (and a surprise visit from Lady Hawke on the Hill)...and the weather was beautiful...something is amiss in Willy Nilly on the Wash!
ORF was the first Faire Dwyn and I ever attended and tho' it was never a really stunning Faire to look at (like Sterling or MDRF)...it had its own type of charm and heart. Most people agree that what makes ORF a good Faire are the people you go with...and that's been true more and more but this time, I found the entertainment very...lacking. "Wenches Awailing" are always fun but the lack of Bob Ford was very evident as was the absence of "The New Minstrel Review" (formerly known as The Minstrels of Mayhem *ahem*) Now, maybe NMR has disbanded...could be...but as I said, the rousing entertainment usually found at the main pub was somewhat...lack luster. I know the owner of ORF is notorious for taking popular acts and tossing them out for something "fresher" and if this is what happens...mores the pity for those of us who are dedicated attendee's of Faires that feature acts we want to see. As for it being Pirate Weekend...again...ho hum. I know other Faires are going on at this time so I can understand the reduction of piratical presence...still, it just didn't feel the same this year...
*sigh*
On to MDRF in October....

*sigh* Another weekend without Faire....
Anyone going anywhere on the upcoming weekend since it's a 3 day weekend? Not that it helps me any...*sigh* Just trying to live vicariously through others...

Capt. What three day weekend? Only if you work for the government, or a bank. Most people with normal jobs won't get Monday off.
HANK.
