Many of you have asked if there is a way for patrons to get thier feet wet in the interactive business we teac ht othe cast. In lieu of various inquiries, the Phoenix Players have decided to hold workshops this winter. This keeps the cast fresh and also gives non-cast members a chance to learn some of the skills we teach at rehearsal to prepare our village for 9 hours of straight improv.
So, to that end heres the scoop on our 1st official workshop.
What: Snap To It! Improv Workhop 1
The number one skill needed to interact is the ability to think on your feet. To hold a conversation as a character, one needs to be able to adapt to the world around them, quickly and flawlessly. This first round of workshops will focus on spontanaety and quick thinking. We will work on association as well as explore the idea of making interesting choices. This is a begining level improv class, but will not limit those whove had experience.
Where: The Geneva Community Center Located : on RT 20 a half a block west of 534 in downtown Geneva When: Thursday January 28 7pm-9:30pm
Cost: $10, $8 with a 2009 season pass

With a week until this event we're curious to see what kind of an interest there is for an event like this.
Is there anyone out there that is interested in attending, attending, or would attend if they didn't have other conflicts?
Let me just reiterate that this is a casual atmosphere and a good place to learn if anyone is interested in knowing a little bit about the training the cast gets.
Hope to see you there!

Kara, I have been waiting along time for something like this to be offered....I got in touch w/Panda, I was so there, and was just going to take a half a day off work (I work 2nd shift) .....due to someone else putting in to take that day off, I won't be able to attend. Saturdays/ Sundays are best for me. Liked the idea, liked the price. Please keep us informed of any other classes that you offer....will try to get to what I can. Thanks, Allyn

Allyn, Awesome! I'm sorry that you're not going to be able to make it to this particular event, but I will say that Panda, myself, and the rest of the staff have been discussing (if next week is a success) continuing with this program. We will for sure keep everyone posted, and will try to accommodate as many schedules as we can!
Thanks in advance, and for your interest, Kara

Improv is truly a wonderful place to play! I would say that there is a fair bit of interest out there. Some may be apprehensive but there really is no need. Improv is a free flowing exchange within a framework. There is no right or wrong. The more you do the better you get and its FUN. I would love to join in but also suffer the schedule and distance problems. Weekend days?

: My Lord Higgins, You did such an outstanding job with your Lady at 12th night, you are already a truely fine tuned professional of improv. Thanks for making the 12th night such a great event. Sir Michael

I wish I could attend. However work schedules will not permit it and we cannot just take the day off. Everything sounds great and I really would be interested if only it were on a weekend.
