Alright, for those Stargate fans out there..
I do recommend Stargate: Ark of Truth if you enjoyed the final two seasons. It ties up the loose ends left after the Ori story arc.
However, if you like Stargate at any time before the Ori, Continuum is a must see...
So, SG1 heads off to a ceremony where the symbiote of the last Ba'al clone is being removed. Mitchell, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c, and Vala meet up with Jack.
They thaw out the Ba'al clone, and Vala disappears.
Just before the procedure starts, the clone announces it's a mistake, and bad thigns are about to happen because Ba'al is still out there, and his plan is about to be set into motion. Yup, melodramatic grandiosity. He's a Goa'uld..
Then the procedure starts, and Teal'c disappears.. And the rest of the people around start disappearing as well.. Ba'al gets loose, sorta, and he and Jack get in a scuffle. Ba'al grabs part of the machine, and stabs Jack in the chest.
Ba'al is killed. With his dieing breath, Jack tells the rest of the team to get through the gate. And we see the death of Jack O'Neill........
The rest of SG-1 gets through the gate to end up in the cargo hold of a ship stuck in the Arctic ice... They blow their way out, but Daniel slips in the process, getting his foot wet...
The ship sinks, and Mitchell and Sam head off to look for help. Daniel's foot has frozen and can't walk.
Well, they're rescued, and the trio are reunited. However, Daniel has lost his leg below the knee. <Insert Lieutenant DANiel jokes here>
So, it's maybe a third into the movie, and SG-1 is down to two members and a cripple. Stuck in an alternate time-line, where Sam is a deceased astronaut, Daniel is a quak-job pyramid hunter, and Cameron Mitchel doesn't exist. .. And the alternate Jack thinks these three are cookoo for cocoa puffs.
I'm not spoiling the rest of the plot just yet, but you do get to see a LOT of the old System Lords from the show. Starting with Apothis as a prisoner.. They did a very good job at getting actors back and in perfect costuming from the show...
The big twists, however, are easily guessed, yet still fun to see..
Teal'c is First Prime of Ba'al.
And Vala is still a Go'auld, and now Ba'al's Queen.
Btw, Ba'al's "time machine" is rather ingenious. Rather simple, really. I'm surprised the concept hadn't come up before.
