Actually, she didn't leave the show. Her return was alway in the plan. At least as far as everything I read at the time. Heck, she never even got removed from the creidits.
She was brought back to life to lead the fleet to it's final destination. She just wasn't given any of the inside info that the other Angels had.

Well I guess this goes to how we define "angel." Technically, an angel is a purely spiritual being that was never mortal.
So was the Kara Thrace that returned to Galactica such a being? Given the memories, appearance, and identity of the now-dead Kara? And in that case, why didn't it have the plan, and why was it left in the dark?
Or was she the actual Kara Thrace "reborn" (reincarnated, remade, whatever language you willl), and simply given a second chance? This was what I was shooting with the "ghost" statement. The notion that ghosts are purely psychic, non-physical beings is mostly an aspect of recent study. There are many older stories where ghosts can be completely physical, and inanimate objects can return as well with them. The "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" comes to mind, and there are certainly many more stories of that ilk.

All in all BSG can't hold a candle to SG-1 when it comes to a good story line. HANK. Well, I whole-heartedly agree on that one. As long as you specify Season 3 on. The first season of SG-1 jumped around all over the place, and season 2 was when it settled in.. The good storylines came in once the show was going and figured out which villains and allies worked... (SG1 thw show needs a roughly balanced hero-villain balance for good drama.. The Tokra were nifty, but so weak it didn't help SG1 much. The Go'auld were still too powerful, so the Asgard were brought in to balance. But then the Asgard were too powerful, and the replicators were brought in to keep them in check.... Then, the Jaffa really made things interesting... And then you need a big bad guy, Anubis. ... And when the day is won, you need a new bad guy.. Hello Ori!) The "Cylon perspective" is a 2 hour special event called "The Plan". Honestly, there's a lot left unexplained.. I'm pretty sure Cavil/John came up with The Plan, as he was the first skinjob created.. And he's the only one that can think of the Final Five. He also helped create the other skinjobs, and can tinker with their programming. Or he boxes them when they don't play by his rules... The new show is "Caprica", and is set before the Cylon War. Not sure on details yet though.. It starts with a 2-hour miniseries, but has been green-lighted for a series. More on BSG when I get back to Ohio..

Yeah. The Plan, is a 2 hour movie set during the tme of the mini-series. It will be done from the Cylon side. Sounds interesting, and I will be willing to watch a 2 hour movie just out of curiosity.

Yeah, a two hour movie I can endur. Another slow paced, convoluted series ripe with religious mumbo jumbo I don't think so. I mean come on, what would a "machine" worship as a "GOD" anyway, the guy who invented Penzoil?

I will say that Battlestar Gallactica was interesting. It kinda reminded me of Stargate SG1 or Stargate Atlantis.

Hey Hank! You'll be pleased to know that Caprica is going to be entirely different type of series.. After watching the pilot episode, it's not a Sci-Fi space drama that BSG was. Instead, it's going to be more of a drama with Sci-Fi elements, or at least it seems so far...
And also with a little extrapolation and solid guessing at what happens, it explains why the Cylons have the One-God religion.. Hank, ask me about that one at Clean-Up. I don't want to spoil it for those that want to see it for themselves.

BB. When you say "pilot episode" I tend to think of something on the TV. Now, I've seen the commericials for the DVD, Blu-ray you can buy at the store, so is that what your are refering to, or have they also aired it on TV? I would watch it, but I sure as heck ain't gonna spend 20 bucks to buy a copy.
BSG turned into a drama that took place aboard a spaceship. It turned from SciFi to Soap Opera more concerned with everyone's love life and belief in God/Gods, and Cylon/human babies then any Science Fiction aspects. The first season was good, then it just turned into Days of our lives.

I'm sure he is talking about that DVD. That is the pilot episode. They are selling it now so they can get some feedback on what parts people liked and what they didn't so they will have a better idea where to take the show. AT least that is the official party line.
Me, I think they are selling it now in hopes of cashing in while the iron is hot. And if the series tanks, no one will buy it. This way they have a better chance of roping people in.

Agreed with Trevor.
The show isn't too bad yet.. But, I can see how it could end up going in some very odd directions.. I really liked BSG's social commentary, and I can see Caprica doing things similarly. I just hope that they are not nearly as bludgeoning with the "technology is BAD!" that was the final episode of BSG.
Oh, btw, one VERY big thing in the DVD pilot episode.. You can tell that there are shots that will most definitely NOT be in the one that airs on Sci-Fi. The opening sequence makes you go "WTF is this?!" and might get Hank to finish the rest of the episode. <evil grin> (You can also tell which parts *need* to be in the TV version, because certain things are covered up.)
