For those of you that do/don't know:
Rob Zombie has done a remake of John Carpenters Classic "Halloween"
I for one hate most remakes. However after listening to zombies music and seeing his previous films... am actually wanting to see his take on Michael Myers. I believe that if I know Rob Zombie he has as much of a respect for Michael Myers as the most militant fan does.
especially when i am a huge fan of the now "Classic" horror film monsters Freddy, Jason, Michael, Leatherface, etc, etc
not to mention the choices he made for the cast i think is rather interesting...

I am curious to see it when it come out. I hope he has kept the respect for the original, but I don't want to get my hopes to high.

I heard an interview about this Halloween.. From what I've heard, it's not so much a remake, as a "re-envisioning".. When explained, that means it's a large part prequel, and delves into why Michael Myers is the way he is.
Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis? Hells yeah!!

Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis? Hells yeah!! I agree!! From IMDb web site: On Halloween 1963, Haddenfield, 6-year-old Michael Myers (Daeg Farch), estranged and mentally unstable, is imprisoned in Smith's Grove Sanitarium under the care of Dr. Sam Loomis (Malcolm McDowell) for the murders of his mother's (Sheri Moon) boyfriend, his older sister, and her boyfriend. Now, 15 years later, he is accidentally released and now in search of his baby sister Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton) and Dr. Loomis must warn the residents of Haddenfield and get to Laurie before Michael does. I want to see it. I am a Zombie fan. Kat

OK, I just returned from seeing the "new" Halloween. It is a true Rob Zombie movie. I thought the new story line was kind of interesting. I also liked that he did not change too much from the John Carpenter original. It was definitely a real horror type movie. Blood, screams, a LOT of breast shots, sex & death. Kind of like we are going back to the "B" horror classics. I enjoyed it. Kat

the original 'Halloween' movie was the only "horror" flick I have ever seen. And the part that ticked me off the most was where the blonde chicks runs out of her house towards the woods instead of towards the town where people are..... I found myself screaming at the woman for being so stupid. Really gives blondes a bad name..... oh wait I'm a red-head now - what do I care? Stupid movie.

SSG....That is pretty much a standard horror movie cliche that was so well spoofed in the "Scary Movie" series. Most characters in horror movies are dumber then a box of rocks! If they had a smidgen of common sense they would not get hacked up by the psychopathic slasher or eaten by the alien space monster or whatever.
You see this all the time: A group of kids decide to hold a party in some old haunted house where a 128 murders have been committed by some lunatic with an Axe (but! he has Bud Light) and one of them will hear a noise in the basement and go down to "investigate" and get chopped up. In real life, if that were you, you would be calling in the Swat team to go investigate, or run out the door at warp factor 9, screaming like a little girl!
I love horror movies. but after watching them all my life, the formula is SO predictable! Very rarely am I "surprised" anymore ,as you have seen the scene a million times, just with different actors. HANK.

Yep. They always go off on their own to investigate. Or if there is a group that knows there is trouble, they always end up splitting up to go find someone/something. Or if the police are called in, they never have enough amunition, guns or manpower.
About the only difference is, is how creatively it is written.

I think I'll keep to G rated cartoons - they make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and not because blood is oozing down my head...... hee

Got to agree with Hank and Trevor...I love horror, but most of the time, the charecters are absolute idiots! ( Me, I just like all the blood and violence! Hee hee hee hee hee..............) I AM looking forward to checking out Zombie's take, though. LOVE his stuff.......................... ( For a positively FASCINATING twist in horror films, you all might want to check out one that Hank recently treated me to. It's called' Camp Cuddly Pines and the Power Tool Massacare'. Fair warning though...it AIN'T 'G' rated! ;D ;D ;D)

Just saw the movie.
I liked it! A lot!
Now this isn't the original, and doesn't even pretend to be. Which I think is a good thing. Rob took the framework of the original and ran with it from there. Which is why I think it works. It's a different enough movie to be taken on its own. Will it replace the original? Never! The original is a masterpiece as it stands (though it does seem a bit slow when watching it for the millionth time anymore) This one is much differently paced and has a whole new take and approach to the story. Is it horror? Nah, it's pure slasher in all it's glory. Which is what it is advertised as.
It does lack a bit on the technical side of things though. The editing is a bit rough and spotty at times. A little incoherent at others. The volume fluctuations almost drove me insane at times also. But even with those strikes against it, I can see myself watching it several more times on DVD easily.
It's true enough to the original to recognize, but different enough to keep you guessing on what will happen next and how it will happen.
The only other drawback, is that there are so many familiar faces in this movie, that it becomes distracting. You see someone, then you start trying to place where you know them from. Especially for those of us who aren't very good at that without IMDB. I mean, when I first saw the sheriff, I kept thinking, "I know that voice, From where?" Took me a while to place it, which distracted me from what was going on.

I would lean over to Liam and ask "How do we know her/him?" We really liked Tyler Mane as Michael Myers. We think he made him more believable. We enjoyed it.

Trevor...
i did the IMDB thing and the coice of the sheriff should be a recognizable one in horror because that is none other than Brad Dourif... AKA Chucky!!!

I love Rob Zombie, and I love House of 1000 corpes and Devils Rejects, but this movie was one of the worst I've seen in a long time.
