Somehow I missed the word about this coming out until now. I plan on getting it, even though I already have it on DVD. Couple reasons. It has more stuff on it. If sales go well, it will at least give hope for another movie. More details here www.serenitystuff.com/

Don't mean to rain on your parade Trevor, but I for one have had it with these COLLECTORS EDITIONS! They pulled that crap with Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and God knows how many others. And yes, I got sucked in and bought a couple before I wised up. As far as I'm concerned, it is just the same DVD you already own with some inane drivel you don't care about anyway thrown in to make you think you are getting something "special." As for a second movie: ya, that would be nice, except the damn fools killed off half the crew! The only way that would work is a prequel....Pick a time slot after the TV show ended and before Inara and the Preacher left the ship to go their own way. In other words BEFORE Serenity. That is where they screwed up with the movie "The Last of the Mohican's" If they had started with the FIRST of the Mohican's, they could have gotten a whole series, not just one movie! HANK.

We'll buy it. ;D For Joss Whedon's commentary alone, it would be worth it.....the only shows on DVD I've EVER watched in their entirety with the commentary on were Buffy episodes. (his commentary on "The Body" was incredible.) I don't know if a 2nd Serenity movie would ever happen, but it is a nice dream, anyway. As for "Last of the Mohicans"....there IS a sequel in literary form, James Fenimore Cooper's "The Prairie." And in my humble opinion....they screwed up a LOT more than the title in that movie. The damned repetitive and overpowering soundtrack, for one thing...and too many scenes of people just running around in the woods..... CW

Hank. Normally I agree with you. Most DVD's I hold out for the edition with the most stuff, or I won't bother getting another copy just for a few extras. LOTR, I knew ahead of time that there were going to be multiple versions. They even said so before the first DVD even came out. But I got both regular and special editions of all 3 movies. That way I can watch the theatrical version, or the extended version depending on what I want. With this new Serenity CE, there are enough extras on it that I don't have to justify my getting it. And I will support the merchandising of this movie and series any way I can. If for no other reason than to thumb my nose at the stupid TV executives that canceled the damn thing.

Gotta say Trevor, I think TV executives are running a close second to automotive engineers for sheer stupidity! When Firefly was on WB, or whatever the hell the channel was, they aired the shows in no particular order, so it was just a senseless hodgepodge. It wasn't until SciFi showed it in it's proper order That I even started to like the show.
Here is a question for ya. On any particular DVD you might own/rent/steal, whatever, do you watch any of the director commentary stuff? I VERY rarely do. I might watch the bloopers, or maybe the deleted scenes, but I hardly ever care what the director was thinking, or why he did something a certain way. More often than not, I just find that horribly boring. And to watch the movie with the director talking over it explaining everything...You've got to be kidding. HANK.

Actually, there are a lot of commentaries I like. Others are boring. Depends on who is doing it though. Love most of the stuff from Joss shows (Buffy, Angel, Firefly), a lot of the LOTR commentaries, Supernatural, and a bunch of others. Just depends on who is doing it, and what they talk about.
Ones that go into detail about what they are doing/thinking during certain scenes tend to bore me. Same for the technical ones that talk about lighting and such. But when you get some behind the scenes stories, jokes, etc. Or better yet, when you have a couple people doing the commentary, it can be really great. Especially when they are joking around a bit.

I thought the prequel to Last of the Mohicans was The Deerslayer... which I had to do a book report on in the 11th grade.

Last of the Mohicans is one of the very rare occasions where the movie is much better than the book. Like SSG I also had to read The Deerslayer in high school, and the writing was awful, I couldn't even finish it.
Hank, "Firefly" was on the FOX network, and they really screwed it up. Never showed the pilot, and broadcast the episodes out of order. It was like they didn't want it to succeed. Never had a chance!

I'm watching it right now with the commentary with Joss, Summer, Nathan, Adan, and Ron.... I will spend money on anything Joss does!

So Trevor, it's been over a week now, have you gotten your "special Edition" of Serenity yet, and was it worth buying? HANK.

Nope. No money right now. And if I did have cash, I would be holding off on spending it until both vehicles were fixed.

To be honest, the best thing about the collectors edition is the beautiful new box it's in. It's fun to here Nathan, Adam, and Ron babble in the commentary, but I really didn't get a lot out of the new commentary. Beyond that there is a tour of the ship and these strange scenes with River being studied but those were posted on line a long time ago. You really aren't missing much. The box is so PRETTY though!!!!!! Hope that makes you feel a little better that you didn't get to get it yet.
