thank you Trevor. But to be honest with you. look at Pirates of the Carribean. its not neccessarily family friendly but it is written in a way that adults laugh at and kids go... "Huh"
or is it the other way around...
Any way over in my world if someone is offended by something; others proceed with something along the lines of "Tough ****" or "Suck it up and Drive on"
any way funny is funny whether its pushes buttons or not.

If you want to see a show that's not censored, see Axel. I've heard he's refused to censor himself. A lot of faires seem to be going the "family friendly" route. An unfortunate national trend, in my ever so humble opinion. But from what I've been hearing from my sources, GLMF seems to be going to extremes. Actually, that's not really true about Axel.......he was hired in as an adult pub act, and has been faire approved to stay that way! I agree that the "family friendly" atmosphere has really shown this year.....and I believe there should be kid approved and adult approved. I've always believed both types of shows should be there.........

What I heard came from a friend of mine who had talked to him. He's the one who'd designed and help build the Drift Inn, it was his stage to do what he wanted. Then they moved the food court closer and built a playground in the backyard. I'm all for having places that are good for kids, but it was a bad choice to put it there. That is when Axel said he wouldn't censor himself.
I agree there should be both family friendly and adult friendly areas at the faire. Don't turn it into Disneyland!

The purpose of my post is because I wanted to make sure everyone understands, it's not a "refusal", he is an adult act was hired in as such years ago, and is approved to stay that way! WHY the heck they put the playground there (which really has been for several years...) is beyond us. That is an excellent question!!!!!!

I agree, there is no reason to have Axel change his show. His show is what it is. Trying to tone it down would leave him very little he could do, and would be not what people come to see. IT would be like asking the Washing Well Wenches to tone down their show. What would they be left with?

I have to agree that the playground is in a bad area...with all the wooded area he has by fairy forest, Larry should move the playground there.

I wasn't saying it was an official "refusal"(very sorry if that is how it sounded, wasn't my intention), just that he'd decided he wasn't going to censor himself because of the changes. I know he is approved as an "adult" act and should stay that way. Trevor is right, toning it down would mean practically no show at all.
As for the Tortugas, the reason the "R" show was pulled was due to a bit where they were miming a particular sex act. The faire adminstration was concerned because people could see this while walking past the stage. This was related to me by a friend with a reliable inside source.

Yeah. The Tortuga 'R' show is rather blatant about things. Which is one of the reasons I never really cared for it. I like to see some imagination used to get the point across.
I like things left to the imagination. Those of us with dirty minds will take things one way, while those who are a bit more conservative will take things another way. That way, it works on multiple levels, and shows a little skill.

After all the years we have been coming we have never seen the "R" show need to make my own decision on this but listening to everything that is being posted .
But what Trevor said in he's second paragraph I agree. ....So be it..... shrug

The mimed sex must be new this year for their "R" show, didn't have it last year. Would've remembered that.

Alright, I have to jump in here. I don't like being misquoted. I DID NOT say Axel refused to censor himself. On the contrary, he told me he censors himself all the time. The man is a professional, and after years of performing, he knows how to gage an audience. If he tells a joke, and it doesn't "go over," he immediately revises his material.
Wyldfire and Trevor are correct---Axel's show is billed as an adult Pub show, and they should keep the area around the Drift Inn as an "adult area." Move the kiddie playground somewhere else.

Probably much easier said than done, the kiddie playground, which is right next to the pony rides, which is right next to bunny fencing and a games area, and just beyond that is the TT stage. That whole area is butted up against a swamp. I could see moving these kid types of things down closer to Fairy Forest, but that would require a good bit of money on drainage, fill, excavation and tree removal, and then what do you put in those now vacated spots? The family friendly crowds would still have to walk past either the TT show stage or the Drift Inn to get to/from Fairy Forest and the rest of the shire so the problem still would exist. I don't think moving things around is the best solution. Having shows properly bill their content, display their rating and try to be aware of the audience/passerby demographs is a cost effective solution. Keeping the the R rated shows for near the end of the day, like most have been doing, works well. The little kiddies are either pooped out and have left, are asleep on dad's shoulder, or have glassed over and are still gaagaa over thier new wooden sword and shield.
