Can't disagree with ya Trev. But hey, if the Browns knew what they were doing they wouldn't suck so bad. If they had Vince Lombardi as their coach they would probably fire him too. So 2014 will be yet another 4 and 12 season. HO HUM! I was surprised when I turned on the 11 o'clock news to catch the score of the game only to find out they lost(I expected that) AND they fired the coach. That did surprise me a bit. Who's running this team Ted Stepian? Remember when the Cavs had the coach of the week? I think the Browns have had more head coaches the Taylor Swift has had boyfriends!
Did the Steelers make the playoffs? I know they had to beat the Browns, the Ravens had to lose and something else had to happen, a meteor had to fall on Salt Lake City or some damn thing and if this all happened the Steelers got a wildcard spot. Not bad for a team that started out by losing their first four games.

Concerning the firing of coach Chudzinski, This is all Haslam, The almighty owner got mad and broke his toy like a little kid. What do you expect from someone who was stupid enough to hire crooks to rip off the little guy and now he may go to jail for it. Browns owners were never known for their brains, Fire Paul Brown, now there is a tough act to follow but Haslam is the guy to do it.

I guess the Browns will be looking for the next victim, UH, I mean head coach. I can't help but think that whomever they select that person must feel like the guy in the Star Wars movies who Darth Vader would select to be the next commander cuz he just killed the old commander who failed him. He's gotta be thinking why me, what did I ever do to deserve this?
Hell, I'll take the job. I don't know diddly shit about football, but that does not seem to be a job requirement where the Browns are concerned. And I'm thinking it must pay at least 500 G's a year, if not more, and I could use the money. So what if I get fired in a year, I'll just take the money and run. Where do I apply?

$10,500,000.00 not bad for one years pay. Say Trevor, any chance you could put a reply function on the ten last posts page?

You can always just hit the "quote" button, then delete the quoted text. That is what I did with this post just to check out what you were talking about.

Hey Trevor, got a question for you since you are/were a Steelers fan before the NFL changed the rules. In the hunt for a new Browns coach the newspaper makes mention of the fact that the Steelers have had THREE head coaches since 1969 while the Browns have had about a zillion in that time period.
So my question is: Since the Pittsburgh Steelers have been around LONG before 1969 how many head coaches did they have BEFORE Chuck Knoll got the job? For a team that's been around since what the 30's or 40's why pick 1969 as the starting point?

For a team that's been around since what the 30's or 40's why pick 1969 as the starting point? . Well, the pick the start of Knoll's tenure, because that is when the Steelers started turning things around. Before that, they were as bad, or worse than the Browns are now. According to this Wikipedia article, they had 13 coaches in the 35 years before Knoll. So, 16 coaches in 80 years. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Pittsburgh_Steelers_head_coachesThe Browns have had 7 in the past 14 years. And 17 in the 67 years they have been around. Or 16 in the 50 years since Paul Brown was replaced en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Cleveland_Browns_head_coaches

So prior to Knoll they were averaging a coach every 2.69 years, AND THEY SUCKED! And the Browns average a coach every 3.94 years; 67 divided by 17. and THEY SUCK! I wonder if there is a correlation? You know, like E=MC squared, the more coaches you have the worse you play. You know C squared = YOU SUCK!

The six o'clock news is on in the background and I see where the Cleveland Clowns have finally managed to find some sucker to say YES to being the new head coach. Wish him luck, he'll probably need it

Can't help but wonder what the Hell the NFL was thinking when they decided to hold the Super Bowl in an undomed stadium in New York/Jersey in February? If I were a fan going to the game (which ain't gonna happen. Hell, I doubt I'll even bother to watch it on TV.) I would have to think twice about paying thousands of dollars to freeze my ass off. Imagine watching it on your TV while sitting out in your driveway and you'll have some idea what being at the game is like.
Imagine someone trying to catch a pass and your fingers break off from the impact, or the ball just explodes while trying to kick the extra point like it was dipped in liquid nitrogen. I can see the headlines Monday morning: Superbowl over at end of first quarter, score 0 to 0. 8 players and 427 fans found froze to death.
Who knows, if the NFL is that damn stupid maybe one day they'll hold the Super Bowl in Cleveland Stadium.

See. That's the thing. All the teams up here were always complaining because they wouldn't have a SB in cold weather. It wasn't fair.
And frankly, I agree. They should rotate through every stadium in the league.

Interesting bit of trivia from today's Plain Dealer. Since the Browns came into existence in 1946 we have had 18 head coaches, counting the new guy, Mike Pettine. Only FOUR of them have had an overall winning record:
Paul Brown. 1946-62. 167-53-8 Blanton Colier. 1963-70. 79-38-2 Nick Skorich. 1971-74. 30-26-2 Marty Schottenheimer. 1984-88. 46-31-0
So in the 25 years since 1988 we've had 11 different coaches and not one has had an overall winning record. Kinda sad when ya think about it.

Hey Trevor, who normally plays in the Meadowlands, the Giants/Jets? Since the NFL holds the Super Bowl in a neutral stadium so no team has home field advantage, and since I would think they pick the sites well in advance of the season. what would they do if the site they picked turned out to be home field to one of the participants? Kinda late to change sites at that point.
As for holding the Super Bowl in EVERY stadium on a rotating basis, sound fair in theory but who is gonna pay a shit load of money to freeze their ass off in Green Bay in February? And would a town like Green Bay, or even Cleveland for that matter have the hotel capacity to deal with a zillion out of town fans? You could solve the weather problem by moving the SB to, oh, say, late April or early May. Hell, it was held in January when it first started. But that won't solve the hotel problem.

It is a three hour game, People hunt and ski for longer all the time, And it is not like there is not somewhere to warm up, it is in a stadium after all and with all those people there will be some warmth for the fans, and it is a point of honor to have gone to the game, The colder the better for bragging rights, got to be warmer than those in polar bear clubs we swim in the ice covered lake ]

Three hour game? Try over four. They have to have a time out every 20 seconds so they can fit in forty eleven commercials for beer and trucks. And if you think sitting out in the cold for "braggin rights" is so much fun watch the game from your front porch next Sunday. I think you would much prefer the Irish American Club. I'm guessing to attend that game in person from Denver or Washington will cost you close to ten thousand dollars by the time you factor in Air fare, car rental, hotel, food, outrageous ticket prices, etc. and I for one am not payin that kind of money so I can Bragg "I froze my ass off at the Super Bowl" Like I said, I doubt I'll even watch the game on TV. Just have no interest in either team, don't care who wins. Hell, if I were to win free tickets on the 50 yard line I'd give em to you so you can "enjoy" the cold. That is if you're not too busy jumping naked into Lake Erie. My favorite Winter pastime is hibernation, which I intend to practice a lot this weekend. HANK.
