Got a heads up today..
Pub Sing is not to be held at the Stumbull Inn this season.
Instead, it will be Drift, and utilizing the larger stage!
<puts on flame retardant priestly vestments> Alright all, get the rants out now so we're all calm for Saturday in order to enjoy Pub Sing as always! It was a surprise to me, but I'm giving it a good chance. The bigger stage does make sense.

Oy vey....the only problem I foresee is that the Drift Inn Pub is half the size if the Stumble Inn Pub, so I hope they can keep up

Hmm...I'd really, really like a Pub with a roofed area so if Ash-tab-u-la weather visits we don't have to all try to cram under that overhang which is positioned just so the drip distance hits you squarely on the back of the neck...at least the Stumbull had trees for shelter and I liked the bricked area around that Pub. I fear if a downpour does occur...you won't have to worry about having a Pub Sing...pity.

I'm willing to give it a shot. Might actually be able to get some decent pictures now.
Lighting issues at the Stumble Inn stage are horrible at the end of the day. All that shade combined with dusk, made shooting pictures of the pub sing, something of a crap shoot.

So Pub Sing will be at the Drift Stage, huh? No big deal as far as I'm concerned. Bigger stage, more performers! Makes good sense. As for the smaller pub, well that just means all the drunks can't be served as quickly, what a pity! Maybe if they have a huge increase in business they might put on extra bartenders.
As for Capt. Morgans comment about there being a downpour, you won't have to worry about a pub sing....How will that be any different then the Stumble Inn? There ain't a hell of a lot of shelter there either. Little longer overhang on the pub roof, but not enough to brag about. And as for the trees...well, they are only good for a light drizzle, not a deluge. And if there is lightning, they are the last place you want to be.
Just have to see how it works I guess.
HANK.

Gotta say I don't mind the idea myself.....I'll miss seeing Pub Sing, of course, but from a work standpoint, it'll be a whole lot easier and quicker to pack up for the night without all the crowds.

I wonder how they'll utilize the second story of the stage.
If Drift pub pans out to be too small, I'll just buy drinks at Stumbull, and walk over double fisting. Not much of a problem.

Maybe it will work this time. Several years ago they tried moving Pub sing to the Drift Inn, right around the time it was built I think. Didn't work out so well. We'll see.

Have to also think of the wonderful Pub Wenches....Connie and Michelle who were always supportive of their Pub and decked it out in finery....People take pride of what they do...and take this as you will but...many is a Faire that others envy our Pubs and the music played and the atmosphere that is found...hence...the Grand Meeting of the RF-er's on poor Avaloch....Common Ground will be found...and the Shire will be blessed....*under breath* Or smoked in ruin....
Drinks all around to those who have traveled far and near...I welcome you all to my "Home Faire" and I hope you find it as such....for you shall always be known as "GLMF Family"

Now I would be very, very disappointed to see you double fisting.......Beer bong it baby! On another note, Drift Inn was designed to be accoustically better than Stumbull, I am looking forward to actually getting to HEAR the Pub Sing this year!!!!!!! I don't think the pub will be an issue, I always found the ale colder there, and even when busy, never have to wait that long for a refill! ;D Heck, I just can't wait for faire to be here!!! And, to see everyone! TWO MORE DAYS!!!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Ooof, I think I hurt myself on that one!

Hands down the Drift Inn is a much better stage. Its size allows Scott to be much more creative. While I share the concerns about the size of the pub, it is staffed by two bartenders, same as Stumble. My initial reaction was also one of concern. I hold precious memories of pub sing at the Stumble, but it was not the location... it was the poeple that made it special.

You know Trevor, you're right the light is funky at the Stumble Inn at Pub Sing Time. But I don't know that it will be that different at the Drift....
I hope they get sound system for the pub sing, because the Stumble Inn at least the food court was closer for the sound wave to bounce back, along with the trees. Drift Inn, the sound disapates into the stratasphere. I often have a hard time hearing at the Drift Inn.
Those on clean-up crew, do you know if they grated out the ground to get it more "level"?

I think it's a good thing too. Pros: Absence of the late-day sun in your eyes at Stumbull and the extreme noise levels from the pub Good acoustics More stage room More seating (I think?) More standing space at the back without blocking the food lines. Sounds good to me!

You know Trevor, you're right the light is funky at the Stumble Inn at Pub Sing Time. But I don't know that it will be that different at the Drift.... It should be. Migth be a little darker, but it will be more consistant. One of the issues was because of the setting sun. As it was coming down around tree-top height, it would come in across the stage. Because of the open area of town square. Drift Inn won't have that issue as the trees are right there on that side. It will be darker. But you won't have the patchiness. And you shouldn't have issues of trying to shoot pics with the sun in the background as would happen at Stumble.
