I think the best weather, so far, this season. RESCU donations were finished. Thank you all that donated and bought raffle tickets. Fool Hearty will be missed. As well as The Maidens. The "kidnapping" was so much fun this time. Pub Sing was excellent. The little new twist in the Chess game was very funny. I had a great weekend.
(Just waiting for the all women beer team)

My husband and I (and now are15 month old twins) are long time faire patrons. I even won the photo contest a few years back. I just wanted to comment that we really, really enjoyed the faire on Sunday Aug 3.
It seemed more open and while it was crowded, I didn’t feel like I was in a crowd. KWIM? We liked that there were more rides, vendors, and play areas for kids. We also enjoyed some shows we haven’t in the past due to having small children now. The Frog Prince was a lot of fun and the kids enjoyed it very much.
We stopped for a spell and enjoyed some bread, cheese, and beef sticks from our favorite, the Black Ox Peddler. Very nice to see a doggie rest spot there as well. Maybe it is because I am seeing things through the eyes of children now, but the faire really seemed fresh and new to someone that has been to them for the past several years, so congrats to all involved on a job well done.
I have to say one thing did put a damper on the day. Just before Pub Sing we saw a patron abusing her dog that had a jester collar on. I don’t know her, but see her at the faire every year and have witnessed her being less than pleasant to the dog in past years. In fact, I remember reading a post on either this board or one the GLMF site (when it had a board) about her mistreatment of the animal. The poor dog really did nothing wrong today and she gave a hard knee to the side and hit him/her with a water bottle on the top of the head. It’s just so sad to see a helpless creature being abused. Kind of ruined the good time I was having so we left.

With all due respect to you, that woman does not abuse her dog. She has been coming to the faire for many years and that dog grew up at the faire. I'm sure you think you know what you saw, but I am pretty sure you are mistaken. I know both the dog and the person and can say that the former is not abused nor the latter an abuser. Please do not make assumptions about what you thought you saw until you have talked to the parties involved.
As for this weekend, the weather was perfect. Finally saw the chess match, will put my thoughts about it on the chess thread. Also saw the dance show. Wonderful! Funny and entertaining, and even informative. Lady Ophelia is hilarious. Surprised more people don't come.

I do have to agree with Kaynee, I see them there each weekend and have seen no signs of abuse as of yet, and do not think that she seems the type.

Let's not use this thread to rant about whether some is or isn't abusing their dog. Trevor set this up to hear all the good things about the weekends and some constructive tips for how to make our final weekend the best one ever...
Now for my good parts... I am happy to see many of the new and old game booths actually having business. The archery range after the royal joust was the fullest I have ever seen. The new games that are with the pirates cove are great and being filled as well. The kidnapping is getting bigger and better each time. The Knights for next weekend will have something better prepared for everyone. It just didn't work out this week. From a cast perspective, I would have to say that this is the best year for patrons as well. They are coming in more open and ready to play with us, and it makes us feel proud of all the work we are doing when we see everyone leaving with a smile on their face and a big ball of happiness inside.

The archers on top of the Chess Board for the kidnapping was freaking awesome! It looked so cool. The kidnapping was a blast.
Yes, the weather was perfect. Oh, and it was great seeing the cast that had to dress as Gods for the feast. Especially Tristan as Cupid. That was just freaking hysterical hehe.
Oh, and I had a lot of fun chasing after Lancelot when he stole Isolde's journal and was reading it out loud.
So, all in all, this weekend was fun.
OHHH! And how could I freaking forget the Proposal!!!! ^.^ I am so happy for those two. ^.^ ^.^ ^.^!!!!

Well you know what. I saw all kinds of horrible things. A kidnapping. A torture session. 3 TIMES. (I think I was involved once) I ran and found the Sheriff and told him what was going on. The Sheriff wasn't sure I was there much less who he was. But, at least I made sure the authorities were notified when I saw these horrible acts!!! I finally had enough about 2 hours after the last cannon fired. ;DOoops. ;D

Had my children up on Sunday. Fool Hearty is wonderful. My kids were involved in the show.
Even though I had been there every weekend before this last one it seemed like a whole new village when I was with my kids.
Thanks to everyone that made it fun and special.

Maybe it is because I am seeing things through the eyes of children now, but the faire really seemed fresh and new to someone that has been to them for the past several years, so congrats to all involved on a job well done. Some of it may be from seeing it with your children. But I also think a big part of it is because the faire does seem fresh and new this year overall. I know it has for us. Sure, some things are the same, but the overall 'feel' of the place is fresher than it has been in years past. Scott has done a wonderful job at continuing the turn-around John started the last couple years. That coupled with the revived and new games/rides. Good sized crowds. And all the stuff that staff has done behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly this year. It really has added up to a most wonderful season.

Amazing weekend. So glad I got to see the kidnapping this time around. Lady Isolde even petted my fur. xD I felt so special. I had a balance contest at pub sing on Sunday, too. That was pretty darn amusing. Sorry if we almost destroyed you, Tristan. Didn't mean to.
