I'm sure many of you know Stan (Tip) Ruck as the Pub Master at GLMF. He also owned/ran the fresh fruit/veggie booth. Just found this out from Hoss (you remember him too, I'm sure) and I wanted to pass it on. Tip is an awesome all around nice guy, please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers:
Don't know if you heard about Tippy. He had a tractor accident on Tuesday and was life flighted to Metro. He got his sweatshirt caught in the pto of his tractor while loading soybeans from a trailer bin into the semi. He got out of it, except for his arms. One arm is broken in three places, the other is mangled pretty bad. There's a big gash, nearly to the bone, and he's missing a lot of skin and maybe some muscle. They spent three days just cleaning out the wound because of all the contamination, then did the first skin graft on Friday. He gets physical therapy every day. Yesterday was the first day that he didn't have surgery of some sort and he was in pretty good humor. Tip has busted his ass for the GLMF for years let him know that we care. His home address is:
Stan-Tip-Ruck 2588 State Route 534 South Geneva,Ohio 44041

They are taking collections for his medical bills at the following locations:
Trumbull Locker Plant and Thompson Feed
...possibly other places as well but I'm not familiar with the area out there. As I learn of things, I'll pass them on.

His kids have taken over getting the crops in so I've been told and doing a wonderful job...Hard, back breaking work I'm sure!
I was wondering if this was in the local paper out there? It happened on Tuesday the 14th of October.

I assume the accident took place in Geneva as that was the address Capt. Morgan gave for him, so most likely if it did make the newspaper it would be in the Star Beacon, a paper out of Ashtabula.
For those of you more computer proficient then I am, you can probably access the paper via the computer as most papers are online these days and search for more details. I doubt the Plain Dealer or News-Herald would have anything, but you might want to check it anyway.
HANK.

I do pray for tip and his family. Is there any word on his recovery? I can imagine what the accident was like, I have had sleeves and gloves pulled into drill presses, it is a terrible feeling being trapped and drawn into machinery, seemed like it happened in slow motion, at least when I got caught it was in light clothing that tore easily.

We just spoke to Tippy tonight. He will be coming home tomorrow from the hospital but has a long road to recover ahead of him. As of right now he has no use of either of his arms. He did say he had a few surgeries but he should be able to eventually use both of his arms again. The next several months will be long and painful for him so I am sure he would love all of you to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear he's coming home already...I was going to see if I could visit him this weekend but wasn't sure where he'd be. Will try to arrange a visit in the next week or so....He's such a sweetie...healing thoughts and prayers are being sent to him and his family!!!

We will keep Tippy in our prayers and add him to the prayer chain. I was also in a terrrible accident (not fasrming related) 10 years ago and I know the pain he will be in. It hurts my heart to know this has happened. Sue

Well...the second article does at least mention his name...but if you knew him by "Tip" it would be confusing....

Glad to hear Tip will recover so well. As I said, grew up on a farm, and unless you have, you really can't appreciate the hard work or the considerable dangers involved. I've known a few folks involved in similar accidents, and with much more permanent damage done. The first one I recall was a fellow First Grader of mine being killed in a tractor accident.
Hang in there, Tip......We're all pulling for you. I'll beam good Goddess energy your way!

I too have grown up on a farm and I know what that kind of work is like.
I wish him nothing but the best for his recovery...
