Hey, Hep! Congradulations on being a 'grandma'!!! I take it you were worried? You needn't have been. Like mothering, it's pretty much a state of mind! I ought to know, I've never actully given birth, but lord knows I've mothered a WHOLE lot of kids in my time! Sort of a calling with me. ( That's half of where handing out all those liquids to cast and crew at Faire originated!) And the older I get, the more I look forward to eventually 'grandmothering' too! ;D
On another note, what makse ME happy today? I LOVE cooking and trying new recipes, and I especially love when one turns out exceptionally well. Especially when I bake. I've been COOKING for about 35 years now, so I'm quite adept at it, and rarely bother with a recipe, prefering to wing it as I go. ( I've been doing it for so long that I rarely have a disaster that way!)
BAKING, on the other hand, is less creation and more physics ,so I've learned, often the hard way, to pay attention to the recipe! Today I tried a very English idea that I've been toying with for a while...Savory 'cookies', or, as the English would term them, 'biscuits'. I tried a chrispy cheddar recipe....FANTASTIC!!!!!!! Light and chrisp and wonderfully cheesy...these are going to go perfectly with some soup and a nice tart apple later! Yum!
You'd think, aftre all these years, that I'd be just plain SICK of cooking. But I'm one of those freaks who finds it walloping good FUN, and a great creative outlet as well! To the delight of my friends, who get to eat the results! ( That mothering thing again...the only thing better than cooking is getting to feed people the results!)
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off for some soup and more of those biscuits!!!
