In honor of THE NOVEL coming out recently, I wanted a quick cute survey. So, what are you all reading out there?
Since Peter won't share, I'm waiting for the "Half Blood Prince". Instead I am throughly enjoying a mystery, "Black Fire" a sequel to "Dissolution". These novels are written as if in Tudor England and are just rife with the politics of the Howards, Greys, Cromwell, and Richard Rich. I don't read many novels or reports about that long stretch of time in Henry 8 after Ann Boleyn and before Katharine Parr. (Actually quite an interesting period on American history too. Find out why we are here....)
So.... what are you reading?

Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins. "Jitterbug Perfume is an epic. Which is to say, it begins in the forests of ancient Bohemia and doesn't conclude until nine o'clock tonight [Paris time]. It is a saga, as well. A saga must have a hero, and the hero of this one is a janitor with a missing bottle. The bottle is blue, very, very old, and embossed with the image of a goat-horned god. If the liquid in the bottle is actually the secret essence of the universe, as some folks seem to think, it had better be discovered soon because it is leaking and there is only a drop of two left. "

I'm writing more than reading...but I do have "HP and the HPB" in my possession!
Hmmm...I think this is the first year in about 3 years that I don't have an Anatomy or Massage book to read, or studying for a frippin' test! Now, that is not to say I don't have books to read, I have a ton of them for Hospice...Medical Books, books by Kubler-Ross and such...but I'd like to bring back the memory of my old school days and just...enjoy the summer....
*sigh*

Nothing at the moment After faire ends though, I plan on cracking open a few of the Darkover books by Marion Zimmer Bradly. Just to refresh my memory about that world. Either that, or I will start on the Darktower series again. I started reading years ago when the Gunslinger first came out. But stopped after that, waiting for him to complete the series before I really immersed myself in it. I hate waiting for something to come out. One of the reasons I haven't started the HP books yet. Won't open any of them until they have all been published.

Arrows of the Queen by Mercedes Lackey; I've read the entire series before, but I'm starting again at the beginning, because I'm in the process of customizing the Dungeons & Dragons universe to do a Herald campaign.
I'm also reading The Salmon of Doubt by Douglas Adams and Yoga for Dummies.

Oh my, who actually has the TIME for reading? Not I in the summer.. For me, that's a cold weather indoor occupation. Summer is way too short-so enjoy it..

Uhhh... natural summer light is the BEST for reading! What are you talking about? It's the best after a walk to sit in a camp chair outside and read a couple chapters. (Okay, a LOT of chapters!)
Sir Geoff, did you still want the title/author of the book you read at my dad's that you liked?

I read when I go camping with my wife. Not much to do in the afternoon, so I read all day, and drink all night

I have to agree with Christy on this one...just got done walking the little knight...he's asleep and I got the baby monitor ready, a drink, and my book...gonna go on the deck and read! And yes...please give me the title/author of that book...I really should start reading more Civil War stuff like I used to do... Congrats on the diploma btw...
