I think someone was talking about Axel's show or the Tortugas or something of that nature as being not "for the masses" there's a difference tho' between what's good for kids vs. adults and also mundanes vs. rennies so you must operationally define "masses"

"For the masses" means just as stated, everyone can see it without being offended. I will never do a show that is just for "rennies" because they are the smallest percentage of people through the gates.

I understand what you mean, and a show just for rennies wouldn't be financially practical. But be very careful about not offending people, someone will always be offended by something no matter how seemingly inoffensive it seems. And also remember that some of the faire's neighbors are offended by its very existence, nothing is going to please them. Some of them come just to be offended so they can make a complaint. Do what you have to do, but be careful.

Can I ask where you heard this about the neighbors. Because for the most part it is untrue. There are a few people in power in the township who makes things difficult, But let's not spread the rumor that everyone is out to get us. Once again I say if you have not heard the information from real sources then Don't pass such information along. It only makes everything worse. rumors create negativity and can alter other peoples perception of who and what we are.

You have to pardon Jasmine and others (like myself) for that, because that's actually what we have always heard, so over time, it becomes fact for us.

You are a great example then. For you the perception is reality. Then Question is who did you hear it from and how credible is their original source? A lot of people who used to work for the faire thrived on the turmoil around them. In my mind what you focus on you get so if we focus on issues that are negative for the faire, we will get more negative issues. If we instead focus on a positive future and see the steps to that end already happening and stay in that vein then we are creating the faire of our dreams. The past is done. the future is yet to happen. it is now that we create.

I think she may have been referring to the litigation and the zoning problems caused by the township.... There was the issue of the day that we had so many attend the faire that they ran out of parking and had to put them in someone's yard..... the town officials had a field day... perhaps that is what she was talking about.

That's part of it too, thanks Roxanne. As for whom we heard the information from was from people who work at faire. We understand what you are trying to stress John, so forgive us for not seeing all of the light at the end of the tunnel just yet.

I agree most of the shows has to be rated for everyone ! I still think there needs to be a couple of adult shows ( R /17 ) . There is alot of adults that come without kids too and its not for the pg6 shows. I'm not saying it has to be fowl language but just the type where it hents at . Like Axel's R show , Menagerie, Gibbon, ect. .

And where do we put those shows so that they are not in earshot of the families passing by and performers would be happy with? What I am aiming at is shows that anyone can hear and the innuendo goes over the head of the children. So in essence they are,"hinting" at it.

As far as the zoning stuff again unless you heard it directly from Larry's mouth take it as dubious. Things get so blown out of proportions at this faire. because certain people liked to talk bigger than they were. There is nothing bigger than the faire itself. A new day has dawned let's all get together and welcome it.

Well, actually. The incident cited in this thread was in the newspaper as well. Used to read a lot of it in the Star Beacon a few years ago. Now, it doesn't seem to make the paper very often at all. So hopefully things are smoothing over.
But I do see your point. If you dwell on the negative, that is what you will continue to see. If you open your eyes to the positives you are much better able to see the potential in front of you.

Back to the subject of "family-safe" for a moment...
I'm curious - for those who remember them, what did you think of the humor done by the Naughty Nymphys (one of my favorite all-time acts, would love to seem them again if they ever get back together - hint, hint, hint!)?
They did many of the same songs that Axel has sung but in such a way that it was an entirely different performance with a different feel. Seemed to me that they were able to keep one toe on the line of "too naughty" without quite crossing it, and they sure pulled in the crowds.
Just curious on opinions.

As the guy who put the three ladies together I thank you I also was the one who came up with the name Naughty Nymphs. I Love these wonderful ladies and they are all dear freinds of mine to this day. The Problem is that they no longer exist as a group.
Jennifer has a long term contract with Universal Studios in Florida and absolutely loves it.
Dani is traveling the states doing her folk music with the ukelele.
Maia After working in Disney Japan and form Cirque du Soleil has move to L.A. to persue her career she is urrently writing and performing in the Pirates Dinner Adventure.
There are currently no troupes up to their caliber perfoming in that genre so I would rather not bring in something that doesn't compare.

Oh wow...then how could you have let them disbanded then? What a goldmine! They were the funniest show I have ever witnessed. Jennifer was (and still is) a nut in that show! I still have the visual of her licking a bald man's head during one of their bits. I was so sore from laughing so hard.
