Can't wait until that whole "Avaloch Notes" issue gets revved up again....You and I and the rest of the "regulars" are aware of their existence and I have no problem dealing with it as I go every weekend and have a chance to actually use the stuff up! "Joe Average" and Family are, at the moment, blissfully ignorant...
I have a feeling there won't be a lot of "Happy Campers" when folks find out they have to exchange their money for something else yet I'm not sure how one would go about informing the public of this practice or even if it's necessary...
Just musing here, folks....
Muse....muse...muse....

Last year was my first time to the Faire (or any Faire) and so I didn't get a season pass, just kept buying tickets each weekend. This year I want to buy a season pass, but I guess I should expect a LONG line eh? Ah well I'm looking forward to the Faire it was fun last year even with the purple notes

well at least they will start it at the beginning of faire and not somewhere in between. that should come off a little better. I wonder if they are going to put the box at the front gate for donations to charity like we discussed? I can think of quite a few charities I am sure people would donate to.

I too am waiting to see a few things on the Avaloch Notes. Like if they are going to have better signage. The biggest problem with the whole system last season was the lack of communication and information. Hopefully this season will have - All food booth workers will have the correct information and not spread wrong information
- Some nice permanent signage explaining it all
- Well stocked exchange tents ( I remember them running out of notes a few times last season)
I'm not positive, but it appears that they will have a few more exchange tents this season as well. I saw some new tents near food / beverage locations that I hope are being used for that.

With any luck, most of the problems/issues from last year will be ironed out.
However, I have a few friends who still will not come back since they can't get real currency in exchange for unused notes.....which yes, I realize is stubborn.....just get what you need.....but it would be nice to have that option.

I think part of the problem last year was that some booths wouldn't make change. If all you had was a $20 you had to take $20 in Avaloch money. Other booths would let you get the amount you wanted and give you change for the rest. I hope this is corrected and everyone is consistent this year.

Yes, if I walk up to a booth with a $20 and say I want $10 in Avaloch then that is what I should get. I can understand the problem with refunding at the end of the day which is why I hope they have the charities box promiently displayed.

the lady in the office says she thinks the season pass machine keeps breaking down because of the dust and dirt outside.
I enjoyed pubsing thoroughly.
One problem that I had yesterday was the parking people were parking patrons behind the pond. that's right paying customers were being punished for coming early so they could get the passes and not stand in a really long line by being told to park farthest away from the gate. this particular group of people told the parking people that they were not cast, and that they had a baby and a stroller. later on the situation was rectified but not after the mother had to push her stroller all the way to the gate from the pond.
other than that the faire has been lovely. a little less crowded with both vendors and patrons but a wonderful weekend weatherwise. I do hope that attendance picks up.
I thought that sword school was doing badly with 18-20 people at a show until I saw how few people were at the final joust. That is what tipped me off that it wasn't us - it was just the holiday weekend.
We got some wonderful cheese, bread, and apple cider from the Ox cart lady. And I really liked all of the statues scattered around the village as well as the nice new picnic tables and lots of them. very nice.
Trevor, I think you and your clean-up crew did an amazing job and you guys should have gotten way more than a pat on the back.
I still think the themed A and B should still be listed in the program. as it stands right now the 1st column is B and the 2nd column is A and that is down right confusing.
Can't wait to see you all next weekend.

Yeah, don't expect to be rewarded for being a loyal patron, it's just not part of what GLMF cares about. It's a business and it's there to make money, can't make money by giving things away you know...... They know we'll come so there's no motive for them to give us extra stuff. Now, if everyone stopped going...... then they would have to sweeten the pot......
