I just got back from all my Hullabaloo...
So...how did it go? How did the Shire look? Muddy, I bet! Was it odd walking around with no vendors and garbed folks about? Kinda' like a ghost town...eh? Well...it will shine when that Portal opens!!

We didn't get that far. We got sticks cleaned up around the field of honor, then we cleared the road comin into the faire. The storm last weekend took a huge toll on the shire. When we turned off of route 534 we were greeted by a whole bunch of trees and branches that had fallen in the road. There was a path just large enough to get a vehicle through. We gathered in front of the office. Hung out a bit waiting for more people to show up while we filled out the standard disclaimers. We ended up with 6 people. Sara, Bunnie, Athena and her friend (I am sorry, I can't remember her naime. I suck with names.) Myself and Britny. We got a lot done, until the chain stretched on the chainsaw. Then we had to quit cutting. Didn't really see much of the fairegrounds. Though Britny was in there and said there were trees and branches down all over the place. (I'll let her tell that part)
For anyone interested, Sara will be there again tomorrow at 11 AM. Bunnie will probably be there. Not sure about us yet.

We got quite a bit accomplished.
We cut down many trees. And got much of the other sticks picked up.
Yes, when me and Bunnie went to get the wrake it was pretty bad. Many trees fallen. Had to go under one and over another five feet from the first one. There were also many branches lieing everywhere. And that was only on the first path.
There is much to be done.

I've always wanted to visit the site in the off-season just to see what it's like, and it's a little weird. I'm so used to seeing the crowds, and it today it was empty and quiet. It was different, but I'm glad I got to experience it. The storm last week took a toll on the trees, they were all over the road. We cleared them up, so at least cars can get through with no problem. We got muddy and had sap in our clothes and hair, but it was a good day. It was nice meeting everyone. Won't be there tomorrow, the old back is feeling stiff, but we'll probably be there again in a couple of weeks.

No sunburn here. Probably had too much sawdust caking my face for the that problem A few aches and stiffness though. Not too bad. Unfortunately I woke up too late today to make it out to help today. But I will be raring to go the weekend after next (or whenever the next time is)

Operation Avaloch will be the official name for this "Mission" that is if Muirgen doensn't mind!! Thank you too all that came out this weekedn. It was a great help. We got more accomplished then you realize, although there is ALOT more to do. I will be out again next weekend, Saturday only!. From 11 til 3ish. Either email me or PM me and let me know if you're interested so i know who to expect!!
We are also working on a rankng system similar to what we do with the cast. That way all the volunteers can have ribbon badges so patrons can recognize them as well!!
Thanks again, It was fun!! What a great start to the season!! The best part of my job is working a long day and then turning around and seeing what i've done. Come join me, that feeling is amazing!!

I agree. When we were done Saturday, and you could look down the road and see it all cleared out. A real sense of accomplishment.

I would love to be helping on this MISSION but here is my problem. I don't drive and I live in the Canton area but John does work in Akron and other areas around there. Maybe I could do a ride along with someone in this area. He works alot at this time for our summer time of enjoyment. Just throwing ideas out there

Operation Avaloch will be the official name for this "Mission" that is if Muirgen doensn't mind!! Mind? Why should I mind? "Operation Avaloch" is the perfect name for it! Hoping to get out maybe next week as well...it would be great if this weather continued! Again....if you need any vinyl signage done, let me know...
