"Guest" Sir Trevor and Nyneve are absolutely correct. It is our love for the faire that causes our frustration. We want this to be the best faire in the country and it hurts us when it is poorly managed. We have supported the faire for many years and have been very understanding. I keep coming back to spite the poor service. Why? Because I love the people, I love the performers, and the vendors, all of which have nothing to do with the management of the fair grounds.
"Sir Michael" You are correct, we should try and be positive but there is no reason to accept poor service. It is also our right as a consumer to provide feedback. It is a fact, companies that want to succeed pay attention to what their customers are thinking. If customers start to think your service stinks and you ignore them, your customers go away. Approximately 2 weeks ago I received a call from Brett and was told my tickets would be in the mail the next day. I still have not seen them. I ordered at Christmas. Is this Brett's fault? I don't know. They seem to be having some "Issues". Just for the record Brett was very nice but the bottom line is I still don't have tickets. Be positive? How long should we be positive and supportive of poor service?
Sorry for the vent. I work in a customer service business and heads would be rolling if we provided this kind of service. The owner himself would be down here stuffing envelopes if we were that far behind.

Hmmm....Is it me or does anyone else notice that...it's not until we start talking about communication and customer service (or a lack thereof) do you see anyone associated with GLMF listed in the "Online" window at the bottom of the Home Page? One would almost feel that we are being monitored and only paid attention to when more and more people become frustrated with unanswered phone calls and empty promises.
Just an observation...I could be wrong....then again....

Well Capt. you know what they say, "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."
And when it comes to "Customer Service" GLMF makes the DMV look good by comparison. I think that has been everyones complaint for eons. I know I mail order a lot of crap and if I order something in December and now it is April and I've not heard word one from them, I'm suspecting fraud, and I will have been on the horn to the states Attorney Generals Office long before this. But it is still unexcuseable. A simple notice of "things are on backorder, will ship as soon as available." would provide some pease of mind to folks who unlike us die hard faire goers don't have an inkling of how disorganized they really are.
HANK.

Alright, well I've been following the heated comments in this thread for some time, and while I usually try to stay out of such debates I figured I would provide a bit of neutral information to maybe put things into a bit of perspective for some of you.
Now I've been a past paytron, two year Project Avaloch volunteer, and will now be joining cast for my very first year.
If anyone goes back a few pages on this board and finds the cast list for the 2010 season, one may note that the list was posted here at the end of March in 2010. All well and good.
I wish to inform you all that today, nearing the end of April, a mear week and a half before rehearsals are set to begin, did the cast list for this year make it's appearance.
Yes, there have been hitches, and things may not be happening as fast as you expect them to or think they should, but there are things happening. The 2011 season is on the move, slowly perhaps, but on the move nonetheless. And even if it may not seem like all the pieces will come together in time, they always manage to find a way.
And while perhaps it may not be the best way to conduct business, everyone can only work with the hand they have and make the best of it. It will all work itself out by opening day, just as it always has.
Paytrons have not been the only ones required to exercise patience this year. Many of us behind the scenes were waiting as well. And the patience of all will be well worth it when opening day comes for yet another enjoyable season.
And that is all I wish to say on this matter.

Why do peopl always consider critisism or opposing opinions "heated"? Cuz the reader add their own emotion to the senders notes when they disagree.
This is an example of heated (Just an example mind you, im not trying to start an argument, troll, or invoke any other such emotion in any of the readers): I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP TELLING ME TO BE PATIENT AND POSITIVE. I HAVE THE RIGHT AS A CONSUMER TO VOICE MY OPINION. SO STOP TELLING ME HOW TO FEEL
There is a difference. This is a discussion board, basically open to the public. Mature people can vent without being "heated"
Thank you and have a great day whether you agree with me or not.

GLMF declared bankruptcy?
As business people we must preplan many item in advance -- how much to sew, fabrics to buy and many more things, all dependant on our faire schedule.
Got to say "heard it through a friend" and disappointed that the Vendors should be in the loop about faire items.
Upsetting all the things that just can't wait until June to hear about. I've already bought fabric, thinking we have our business at xyz -- so many faires, and have already sewn my clothing, kilts and tartan skirts!!!!!!!
We are on the road so pre-planning is critical to Vendors :-(

Don't worry. The faire is still going on.
Things are going same as always. Auditions are done. Rehersals start soon. The ticket situation is being worked on and tickets are trickling out. Contracts are in the works for the performers. All is moving as it always does. Just more behind-the-scenes than in recent years. (we got spoiled with EDs that liked to announce what was happening to the GP )
