I'm very sorry to have to tell all of you that Greg Alexander (some of you might know him as 'Blaxsel the Sot', or one of his other Faire personnas) died yesterday from a stroke. Davine and Gloria, his sisters, have asked me to post this here so that his Faire friends will know.
Final arrangements are not confirmed as of yet, but currently, his service is expected to be at Johnson's Funeral home on Mentor Avenue in Painesville on Monday, 6/27/11. Plans should be confirmed tomorrow, and I will post information.
Currently plans are that he will be buried in some of his favorite Faire garb, and plans are that we will be singing "Health to the Company", his favorite song at his service. All that would like to attend his service and would like to 'dress', please do.
If you know anyone that was a Faire friend of Greg's and you're in contact with them by phone, emails, etc., please relay this information in case they don't happen to check in here in the next few days (although I know many will with our Faire this close to starting).
I will post more when I know more tomorrow

I'm really really sad to hear that I always looked forward to seeing him every year. He was always so nice and had a smile every time I saw him. <3 I'm very sorry to hear this and am sending love and supporting thoughts to his friends and family. I know the rest of cast will miss seeing him too. (I don't really know how to post a picture to have it show up :/ *Thanks Trevor* )

OH MY GOD!! That news sucks. I don't believe Greg was all that old was he? I'm thinking late 30's, early 40's. Damn! That is way to young to be checkin out. R.I.P. my friend, your presence will be missed this year.
HANK.

Very sad news. This is a major bummer. He was always so much fun, and always had such a positive disposition. He will be sorely missed.

I am absolutely heartbroken to hear this news. Greg/Blaxsel was one of the most delightful people to enter through our gates, and was a wonder to see every season. I will always carry fond memories of his visits to faire, the dinner theatre shows, etc. He will be sorely, deeply, heartfeltly missed. Sincerest condolences to his family.

Scott / Axel, and I got the call....we feel awful about Greg, I know he'll be there in spirit, and we shall lift a pint to our good friend. I will miss him so very much, he was witty, fun, kind and a wonderful man. GLMF will not be the same, but the winds will carry his spirit to be with us all once again.

I will call his sister tomorrow. I feel so bad for that family. I love both him and Devine and will miss him terribly. Bunnie was kind enough to call me and let me know. My reaction is that he was so young. And a truely good soul. He will be missed by many.

I knew a man who once said, "death smiles at us all; all a man can do is smile back." ~From the movie GladiatorOur thoughts, prayers and love are with Greg and his family. We shall remember him with laughter, song and story when we all meet again. www.donotweepmovie.com/

Thank you all for your heartfelt, warm wishes!! Thank you so much Trevor for the pic. I figured you'd have them and post at least 1 for everyone. Thanks to those that called Faire friends to let them know.
Updated info: Viewing will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, 6/27, at Johnson's Funeral Home (368 Mentor Avenue; Painesville, OH)--it is kitty-corner across the street from Lake Erie College. The service will follow right after that (scheduled to start at 3 p.m.) As I stated before, anyone wishing to be there that would like to wear garb, PLEASE DO!!
There should be a gathering at Rider's Inn, which is just down the street a little way --for those that have been to 12th Night, the funeral home is less that 1 mile to the East of Rider's on the same street as the funeral home. It will begin at 4:30 - 5 p.m. There will be no graveside service.
All of you that would like to be at any or all of these gatherings, please be there. I want you all to know that you meant a great deal to Greg, as did the Faire, and the people that performed there!! That is why we wanted to make sure you all knew about Greg and the arrangements so that you'd be able to be there if you could. The information should be in the News Herald tomorrow also.
