Have you seen this poll from the Star Beacon??? Published August 12, 2009 11:20 pm - Do you think Trumbull Township trustees should enforce laws that would close the Medieval Faire? Here is the link: www.starbeacon.com/trickortreat/local_story_224232122.htmlI just left a comment but it hasn't shown up yet, not sure if it will but I will tell you I was unable to post the comment on Firefox, I had to go on Internet Explorer. oh, one more thing, I didn't actually write anything that mentioned the law and that "what laws do the trustees think they can actually enforce to do this in the first place..."
This is what I posted, just in case it never shows up. I apologize ahead of time for the length of this post.
This faire has been opening for approximately 14 years. There have been some incredible actors, singers, comedians, magicians...etc as well as fine hand crafted wares including clothing, art, metals, foods, soaps, candles..etc. There are opportunities to meet artisans who are professionals in their field and teach their craft, for free, at the faire to those who attend.
There are main stage acts that run throughout the entire day, comedy, stunts, theatrical performances and musicians. While walking through the lanes you may encounter roaming minstrels playing harps, mandolins, fiddles, penny whistles and singing. You also may encounter parts of the theatrical theme of the actors being performed in the streets or be asked to join a medieval dance.
There are storytellers and whimsical characters for children and rides for them to enjoy that are less expensive than carnival rides (not to mention State inspected and approved). Children can also enjoy giant pirate ships, playgrounds, and games throughout the faire.
So, the question was asked; Do you think Trumbull Township trustees should enforce laws that would close the Medieval Faire?
I would ask instead, “Why?” Where else can you have this kind of professional entertainment and craftsmen, in a beautiful landscaped environment? If you had to pay for each individual performance that you can see for no extra charge once inside, that alone could easily cost anywhere from $280.00 and up per person. Where else can you learn the basics of glass blowing, metal working from real blacksmiths, pottery, painting/drawing, etc. in one place? Where else can you bring your children, enjoy a day with them without electronics and a video screen and watch their faces light up with laughter and joy from seeing live performances and meeting professional crafts people?
The question should not have been asked if we think the faire should be closed, it should be asked what are you going to do about township trustees who want to end a family fun tradition that has outlasted centuries!

Thanks for the link Chris. I haven't been to happyhackers in over a year. That is where everyone from the old StarBeacon forums moved on to.
