This morning the "Ohio News Herald" had a nice front page article about the GLMF. Our good friends Bill & Sue Merryman were quoted in it... I was able to read it by going to " www.ohionewsherald,com ." But, unfotunately quite a few peoople left negative comments about the Faire under the Article. I added a positive one as did my son Josh. ---Excuse me,... (And, yeah,--- I am feeling a little defensive right now. ) Our Faire is Asolutely Great !!!!

There are no need of negative comments, that kind of thing you keep to yourself. I think the Great Lakes Medieval Faire is the great thing I've have ever been to! I've seen so many men, woman and children enjoy faire for what its of hard work put in to it! And now on Sunday Aug. 2, 2009 three people come into the GLMF and harsh vendors and other people with understanding or seeing the enjoyment and beauty that people get out of the GLMF!! THE GREAT LAKES MEDIEVAL FAIRE IS THE BEST THING I ENJOY IN ALL THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!! LONG LIVE THE GREAT LAKES MEDIEVAL FAIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SINCERELY,
JOSHUA LOREN EBEL

...wow.
I posted a nicer comment as well. Hopefully people will read further down to see the more positive things instead of just seeing the first few posts.

Great article! As for the comment about "medieval people" giving one the creeps, whatever. Yep, it's negative, but who cares what some people think? If someone has no desire to be informed and stereotypes a whole group of people then let them wallow in their own ignorance. I doubt they'll ever feel the magic we do when we're in Avaloch!

people go Post this is a great way for you to get you voice heard. Especially after what the township did this weekend to try and scare off the vendors.

please post here.!!! the comments are negative and looking really bad for the fair. I think everyone should show their support there as well. It would appear a "mole" is on that comment page making the faire look bad.

Also someone needs to jump on Tamborinio's Comment about social purity and not thinking for ones self. J Ravenson, before you get too fired up over Tamborino's post, please get out your dictionary and look up the following words: Satire, sarcasm, irony

I read Tamborinio's comment...
What I find REALLY DISTURBING about it is when he says--- (Quote) "I have a proper view of what is good for people".
...HE HAS THIS KNOWLEDGE ? : How Scary.

I was actually coming over here to ask if it was a board member who posted that comment....while I understand the motivation to post it and the sentiment behind it, I also wonder if it is wise for a Faire patron, cast member, or employee to do so in a public forum like that at this time.

celticwench I do not think it was a Board member. Form the rest of the comment it sounds like one of the Trusties.

I doubt that comment was by the trustee. He is a lawyer after all, and knows better than actually speaking frankly, especially in public. I think it was someone who is trying to take a shot at the trustees position. While I can understand the sentiment, I don't think it helps us one bit. And if it is one of the trustees or thier friends, then it was posted to try to inflame us and get us to make wild remarks on that site. Either way, the comment should be ignored. The less attention it gets the better off we are.
Remember people. If you post anywhere about this stuff. Be very calm. Think before you type. Do not attack them. Talk about the positives of faire. Only discuss facts. Do not get sucked into arguments, it only makes you look bad at the end. Even if you win.
We are not going to change the minds of anyone who's mind is made up. So arguing with them will not help. We can sway the people who have no real opinions yet though. So keeping things calm, factual, and honest can go a long way to getting more support.
