Once again I am in complete agreement. Problem is the little local stores can't compete price wise cuz the big chains buy a zillion at a time so they get a better price from the manufacture and can thus sell for less. Plus the local store doesn't have a million sq feet of floor space so they don't always have what you need in stock, oh they can order it for you in a day or so, but if the job is critical and you need it fixed RIGHT NOW....well, what da ya do? go looking for someone who hopefully HAS the part in stock and that brings you to Lowes, Home Depot, or Sprawl Mart. That's just the way it is. We lost two ACE Hardware stores here, one in Chardon and the other in Middlefield, probably due to Home Depot in Chardon.
You are right about the local place being more knowledgeable and give better service, but the bottom line is the mega mart is more likely to have what you need on the shelf when you need it. Sad but true.

People who can't drive in the snow! Yeah, I understand that some vehicles don't handle as well as mine, so they have to drive slower. Trust me, I've been there before. But there is no reason to be doing 10-15 mph, and keep hitting your brakes every 100 feet!

Thank you, Sir Trevor. It's not exactly the way one would wish to spend a couple weeks off of work but I guess I'll just have to make the best of it!

Well, you can look at the bright side. At least you don't have to go out in this bitter cold.

What ticks me off? I wonder why the more I do the more I am expected to do and the less other people do, the less is expected from them but yet they can still get paid for it...

Capt. There is a name for what you are experiencing: It is called the "Whorehouse Syndrome." As in; Working here is like working in a whorehouse, the better you are the more you get screwed.
We've all had jobs like that I'm afraid. Sad but true.

Went out and bought a new electric stove today. Bunnie's old one was on its last legs. One burner did not work, and the oven part sorta worked. Mostly it would burn everything if you didn't watch it like a hawk. So it was time for a new one. NOW!! What pisses me off is ya spend 400 plus dollars on a new stove, you would think they would come witha brand new cord with which to plug it in....NOT REALLY!! I had to swipe the cord off the old one so we could plug it in and make it work. As far as I'm concerned, this is like buying a brand new car and have it not come with an engine. Wass up wit dat. Is it just me, or is EVERYTHING you buy now a days a piece of crap? Some recent examples I have encountered:
Installed a new fuel pump in a friends Cavalier recently. New one was defective right outta the box. Fuel pump part worked but the gas gauge part did not. So had to drop the tank a second time and replace it.
Volvo I am currently working on, One of the brake calipers I replaced won't allow fluid to flow through it from the brake line to the bleeder screw so you CANNOT bleed the air from it. So that goes back to the store tomorrow for a replacement.
This past Thursday Bunnie replaced the ceiling light in the kitchen. We had a florescent one that flickered like a strobe light and would drive you crazy. So, she bought a new one with three light bulbs that swivel so you can point them anywhere you want them. Two days later one of the bulbs has already burned out. And does it take a standard light bulb? HELL NO! So now we have to track down some goofy piece of shit with two prongs on the end that push in a twist.
Maybe I'm just so old I can remember the days when you bought something brand new that it actually WORKED!! Now a days it seems like you go buy something really expensive like a new car for example, and by the time you drive it home from the dealership your recall notice is there waiting for you.

I hear you Hank. I remember when companies took pride in their products, And touted how long lasting they were.
Not anymore. The whole mindest is to make it as cheap as possible, and don't make it too well, because then people have to buy more of them.
I know this for a fact. When Newell took over Little Tikes. One of the thnigs they started doing was making the toys cheaper. They had us put less screws in them to save money on parts and assembly time. They changed the company motto, which used to be "Toys that Last". Then they started cheapening up big stuff they roto-molded in Hudsen. Thinning down the wall thicknesses and such to save material costs. Then they couldn't understand why they started loosing customers. The whole reason people bought Little Tikes was because they were sturdy and lasted forever. It made the investment in them worth it. But once they started splitting and cracking a year or two after purchase, then people quit buying them. Started giving theire business to Step 2 instead. A company that still makes high quality stuff.
