Well, m'lord made one critical error.....he took his lady ring shopping AFTER he'd purchased the bauble, but BEFORE he presented it to her. So she saw a beautiful small stone, told him t'would be PERFECT...and then he proposed with a different one. Since it needed to be sized anyway, twas easy to exchange..and m'lord had some extra unexpected cash in his pouch, so there were smiles all around! (And more gold pieces for wedding attire.....the princess MUST be appropriately clothed, must she not?? ;D)

I personally like the July 1 - Aug 6 idea better. But no one is going to change their schedule just for me. Hope the vendors can work something out.

I have to agree with you SSG. John was even going to take a long weekend on opening week. I hope Brook does come on here and clears this up for us.

I think the first weekend regardless when it starts will be slow. You always have patrons who go and then tell their friends.

Heya all, I just got an email back from Brook...Larry has officially changed the dates to avoid the holiday weekend. I agree that the first weekend will most likely be slow anyhow, regardless of what weekend it is. I really hope it doesn't cause too much of a problem, but unlikely that will be the case.

Opening weekends do tend to be slow. But holiday weekends are worse because you're competing with everything else that happens on the weekend. Larry was in a tight spot, he could either leave as is and lose money; set it back and have it conflict with another faire; or set it back and make the faire only five weekends (you can imagine the screaming about that!). Hopefully people will be able to make arrangements to deal with the conflicts.

Well, see first weekends are always slow but becasue ours was on a holiday it means our second weekend acted like a first weekend so we end up with two slow weekends. It just works out this year that there are 5 weekends is July. So we are going to see if our theory holds true.

I say YAH! They have done Robin Hood before, 98 & 99 if I remember correctly. They seem to alternate between King Richard the Lion Hearted/ Robin Hood, They were kinda connected if you go with Hollywood history. And King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. At least that is how it has been since I started going to Faire in 1995. HANK.
