Wow. So nice to have a crowded shire again. Beautiful weather, lots of people, and most seemed willing to play. The return of Stevens, Spoiled Vixen and Owain! Marshal Law even put in an appearance.
It was good to hear vendors talking about having good days. To see new cast bits in the street Heck, we even had a horse in the parade for the first time this year.
Twas a good day. And hopefully there will be more like it this year.

Definitely an improvement...best weather we've had of the season...
Poor Queen had to retire early...hopefully she feels better Sunday...
Yes...I actually enjoyed myself today...was in full Owain-groupie mode...taped over 2 hours of performance and I downloaded it to the computer. So far, it actually looks and sounds great for live action recording...If it does turn out good enough to burn to DVD, with Owain's permission, I will gladly burn copies for anyone for just the price of the DVD so that I am not profiting at his expense. It will come in handy for the long Ohio winters...
Spoiled Vixen put on a great show...would have been nice, in light of the shaft they received in the off-season, to have been loaned some sound equipment. Same can be said for Anamchara who comes in next weekend. I very much doubt they will be mic'd as well...
Griffin's Leatherworks was hopping today...even my comrade, Sir Thomas, almost made a sale while helping out...
I got a gypsy thrown into the stocks...should have been flogged and exiled from Avaloch...permanently...
Bummer...missed Master Stevens getting humilated....again....heard rumors he was almost nekkid..yikes!

Alright, Class...what information can we gather from your observations?
Pirate Weekend=More Patrons...More Patrons=Happy Vendors...
Pirate Themed Faire...Hmmmm....
Owian Phyfe=More Patrons=Happy Patrons...
Owain every weekend (pay the damn money!)
My biggest gripe for yesterday (and I had to deal with the problem TWICE) was the fact that performers are made to park out in Hell's Half acre (either by the pond or at Brooks) so folks like Michael Manderin and Silent Lion (and probably any other Music Group) have to lug their insturments and equipment alllllllll that way to the Front Gate instead of parking up closer and going through the "back way". Sure, they could drop all their stuff off at the Front Gate (tying up traffic) and then park and come back and lug their stuff alllllll the way to the stages...but I wouldn't trust leaving my viola de gamba sitting unattended while folks mill about (not that there is a hot market for viola de gamba's...it's the principle here, folks!). There aren't that many acts that would "eat up" parking spaces near the Main Gate...and I was told performers are made to do this to leave the "good parking" for Patrons because we "matter so much to the Faire..."
*insert chortle, snort and laugh of your choice here*
Really? Since when?? I'd gladly give up my parking spot to Michael, Silent Lion, Menagerie or anyone else just so they wouldn't have to lug their stuff over muddy, bumpy ground...but that is just me....
Other than that, Yah Pirate Weekend ROCKS and I think there are valuable lessons to be learned which could help the Faire come out of it's slump!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I am also really enjoying getting to meet more of the boardmembers here. I suck with names so I won't even try to mention eveyrone I have met so far. But would love to meet even more. Even if I seem busy or rushed, please, step up and say hi. I can always make time to exchange greetings and thank people for their participation.

Um...what good parking? Twice I have arrived to see the middle lot (I guess that's Brook's house there) empty and I had to park in the third lot way in the back. Of course, I don't have any equipment to haul in, but it really doesn't make me feel like I matter when I get rewarded for coming somewhat early (11:30 ishh) with worse parking than someone coming in after me.

A few more thoughts.
First the chessboard since that is freshest in my mind. Think you might need to bring in some more gravel for the bleacher sections. It is all a muddy mess there. Also, a few more privees back there wouldn't hurt. Just a couple adjustments I think that need to be made for the crowds that Bardic Wind are drawing back there. I know I went for the 6 o'clock show today, and the line was like 6 deep waiting to use the 2 privees that are back there. I know that has been enough in the past, but they are really packing them in back there.
Was good to see the rain not dampening the spirits of the patrons today. Not many left. And lots more came after the rain quit. Got to see even more old friends today!
Also noticed the human powered ride got a lot of work this weekend. Didn't see how busy he was today, but yesterday it seemed like it was always moving.
Also nice to see the queen out looking in some of the shops today. It's a nice touch that I think has been missing this year.

We can all drive in & drop our stuff off at our stages before faire then go park our vehicles. At the end of the day we can also drive on site & pick up our stuff.

I was only able to attend Sunday. (Very nice being able to meet Lady Catharine, Maria and Chubbs.)
Sword School in the rain was a blast! Thank you all again, especially for the extra help with the new drill!
It was great seeing "Spoiled Vixen"! Better than ever!
Only saw the Jolly Rodgers at pub sing, sorry now I didn't get a chance to catch any of there shows.
AND to hear Owain and friends in the shire again is wonderful.
Whoever was running the crows nest ride Sunday.... he is perfect!
All and all a wonderful day! Allyn

I also hear we might see a bit of a combined show between Airial Angels and Bardic Wind. They know each other and have done some things together at other faires as well.
