Week one is "Replace the gear you lost or wrecked weekend". It is also a double theme weekend. the second theme is "Catch up with people you haven't seen in 11 months despite swearing you were going to get together." the entertainment is the same act you really love that you are going to catch despite knowing the whole act by heart.
Week 2: "Complain about the weather and lack of crowds weekend" It will be hot, wet, or not warm enough. Too windy or too still. the crowds will still be sparse and everyone will panic and doomsay. The entertainment for the weekend is "oh, the cast is doing a show" and your favorite act that you really love despite having memorized their show.
Week 3: "We're tired of worrying about it and sick of people complaining so we are just gonna have fun weekend" The entertainment for the weekend will be whoever is on stage next to where someone just brought out a flask full of interesting liquid. And your favorite performer who you are speaking along to their entire show having already seen it at least 4-6 times this season as well as countless times in the past.
Week 4: Celtic Pirate Who invited the civilians weekend! the crowds will be back and you will be forced to park an incredible distance away that in reality is closer than you just walked to get to the privy. Entertainment will be watching the civilians try and find booze. (and your favoritest act ever who is playing all the same stuff you heard last weekend but love too much to skip.
Week 5: Pirate Celt weekend. Men dressed like schoolgirls, women in corsets that fit wrong. Lots of people claiming to be Irish pirates. Entertainment by your favorite act ever as well as you finally getting around to seeing a new show. (and by new I mean someone who is a regular performer that you have missed until this year because their shows always conflict with your absolute favorite until today)
Week 6: I can't believe it's already over weekend. We all hug and swear we will get together throughout the year even when we won't. Entertainment by your favorite act that you just have to see one last time before they leave for the season.
Really for the regulars, they all seem to have all the gear they need for any theme outfit so they just need to know a couple days ahead of time which outfit to (hopefully) wash. And the rest of us tend to ignore it in favor of whatever we feel like wearing so what does the theme really matter. We are gonna end up there for all of them either way.

I just finished a very good weekend running events at a very large game convention. And you know what happened? They screwed around with registration so nobody could make plans more than 2 weeks in advance. The onsite team mis-read the floorplans and scheduled all my events for tables that do not exist.
AND IT WENT AWESOME!
really freakingly awesome.
And right now, I am going to just flat out tell you that it does not matter one tiny bit what the hell the theme is for any weekend this year. IF you go to the faire with the intention of enjoying the day and let things happen and appreciate the people you share the day with and let the entertainment that you find be what it is, it will be fun and THAT is the only thing that matters.
the only thing that matters is that the doors are open, entertainers and food are there (along with vendors) and everybody is looking to have some fun.
annnd... I am going to stop now before I really decide to express myself.

Yes, for those of us who go regularly, this is very true.
But for others, I can see why it has been a problem. If they can only get 1 weekend off of work during the run, and they want to hit their favorite theme, then this has been nothing but a huge pain. Especially if they have to give a lot of advanced notice to get that weekend off.
