Sounds like fun.
I'm busy searching the internet about the wife's thermostat. She is now complaining about not having enough heat, and her radiator is full, and this was after a drive to Ashtabula and back.
Initially, all I was finding was replacing the entire housing. Which involves removing a bunch of stuff. 3 hoses, a pipe, a whole bunch of sensors. Various size sockets, star sockets, and torx sockets. NO THANKS
Espcially when I see on Amazon, I can just buy the thermostat itself. Finally after digging deeper I think I have it sorted out. One hose, 4 bolts, one sensor. That is more like it.
I think I figured out why everyone was changing the whole thing though. It's only a couple bucks more. Autozone, the thermostat is $112, the thermostat and housing is $114. Funny thing is, I can get the thermostat for $20 on Amazon. (I actually went for one for $28 as the seller that had the $20 only had 13 reviews)

$112.00 for a thermostat is ABSURD!!! If that is the part cost can you imagine the labor charge if you took it some place? What the hell is this thing made of anyway?

Oh yeah, those assholes can FUBAR anything. There is NOTHING so simple that they can't F&*@ it up. What I don't get is the picture of just the thermostat you showed seems to come with a housing also. Strange. Just what the hell is wifey driving anyway?

Well, got her thermostat changed yesterday without issue. Hardest part was getting the hose loose from it.

Not the car, but I got home today and noticed a strange noise and the house was kind of chilly. The wife had no idea what I was talking about when I asked her about it. So I went down the basement and noted a strange sound coming from the furnace. Turned it off and opened it up. Sure enough, it threw the belt on the blower. Belt was intact, but trashed. So I ran over to Marshall's and got a new one. Pried it on as I didn't feel like figuring out how to adjust the damn thing. Working fine now. Wish all fixes were so quick and easy.

We had furnace problems also. Ours is oil, I'm guessing your is a gas furnace? Turns out the problem was the injector nozzle which we had replaced with a new one back in early March was plugged and not spraying any oil. Replaced it with one of the old ones I had soaking in a jar of Sea Foam m Deep Creep so once again we have heat in the house.
No idea why the new one failed so quickly. The recommend you replace them about once a year as they will carbon up, yet this on was clean. Who knows? I will soak it in the Sea Foam and examine it under magnification and hopefully get it working again.

If you are wondering why the crazy spacing in the previous post it's cuz the cat stepped on the keyboard and separated everything and I have no damn clue how to fix it.
COMPUTORS ARE A PAIN IN THE ASS!!!!

I fixed it. That is strange the new one plugged up so quickly. Probably made on a Friday afternoon and no one was paying attention to quality.
Bringing this back to cars, the wife had to have two tire sensors replaced. Those things are not cheap.

this is not an April fool's joke. One of my neighbors who I had never met before, he lives about a quarter mile or so East of us, just stopped in with a fantastic offer. From driving past our house on a number of occasions he spotted the Pacifica parked in the driveway.
He had a 2005 Pacifica that he was planning on doing a ton of work on. Unfortunately, before he could install any of the parts he bought the car was wrecked. Seeing that we had one he stopped in to see if we might be a ready market for some items so he could unclutter his garage.
SO!!For a mere $500 we have bought ourselves four tires and rims, four brand new in the box brake rotors, front and rear pads, complete exhaust system from the engine to the rear bumper, cat, O2 sensors, everything but clamps. two headlight and taillight assemblies, numerous switches, one being the driver side window control switch. Our present one will only work the front windows as the rear switches are broken and this part is currently unavailable from Rock Auto. And, some other miscellaneous pieces parts he has to hunt up.
So, Monday I go to the bank and then Tuesday he will bring the parts over the house. Talk about lucking into something.

P.S. You ain't just a kidding about them damn tire sensors being $$$$$. That is why when I had new tires installed on the Impala a couple of years ago I replaced them with regular valve stems. Since they did not become a government mandate till 2007 I was able to shut off the damn dash light. Not sure you could do that on a 2016, but you could put a piece of tape over it.

If it was my car, I would just ignore it. But the wife has a conniption about any light on.

Todd, my neighbor with the Pacifica parts dropped em off last night after he got off work (around 9:00PM) I think I made out good. The four tires are Michelin, and they are on rims. The exhaust system prices out on Rock Auto over $600 bucks itself, plus all the other stuff, pads, rotors, etc. So, for $500 bucks I think we both walked away from this deal happy campers. Todd has less clutter in his shed and money in his pocket, and I got a shit load of goodies pretty cheap. Some times ya just get lucky I guess.

I will seriously have to reconsider ordering from Rock auto in the future as the post office is trying to put them out of business. I just put in an order for some brake bleeder screws for the Pacifica, Impala, and the Town and Country along with a plastic tool for measuring the thickness of brake pads which can't weigh but a couple of ounces, and you know how tiny bleeder screws are and the P.O. wants $23.96 to ship em here. THAT IS MORE THAN THE COST OF THE PARTS!!! OUTFRACKINRAGOUS!
