To blueguy, normally, yes. But they aren't exactlly playing by the rules here, and I simply can't afford to take the chance! And for the record, my/our status is volunteer entertainment...........

Sorry, everyone, new page! You'll want to go back to the end of page one for that to make any sense!

Actually, I think the pickle booth may fall under the auspices of being part of the food service owned by the faire proper. As has been mentioned, Larry provides the pickles and ends up with the money at the end of the day. The grove should fall under his license in that case. Dill and the other two are either volunteers or employees (no idea of your pay status and I think it best you not mention it anyhow) As employees, any citation needs to be made out to the owner or manager at worst. I don't think you would ever see anyone writing citations for violations made out for the person working the counter at a fast food place if they violated a license and I would expect the same applies here. Sadly, the legality of the citations are not the problem here. There are so many holes, it's not funny. It's the process. Dill, and many of the others taht will be traveling at the end of this Faire, do not have the ability to come back here for a number of court appearances. Sure they'll be fine, but it'll cost money both for gas, food, lodging, and whatever incidentals just to fight it. Best way is to not accept the citation in teh first place. I know that a couple people at Authentic Wardrobes did not get cited when they said "No, I'm not accepting it. I'm a volunteer, and it's not my place of business."

Hey, I have a question here. If they are just willy nilly handing out citations to anyone who happens to be in the booth at the time. Are they asking anyone for any identification? Because if not, how the hell do they even know who you are? If I'm standing in the pickle grove for example and some idiot hands me a citation for not having a vendors license I sure as hell won't bother going to court. Hell, they don't know me from Donald Duck. So who are they going to issue a warrant for if you don't show up? they don't know who you are.

Hank , they came to our booth last week--my boss returned- they asked for his soc sec number! No ID asked for.
I WOULD NOT HAVE ACCEPTED IT!
Absurd!
This monster has finally reared its ugly head..

I thought it was illegal to use the SSN as a form of ID. and you can refuse to give it.

Chris, gotcha! I understand what you're saying, and it's true, this could very well drag on and on. Hadn't considered that. And, as I'm needed to manage the booth at ORF in just a few weeks, perhaps, I, too should play lookout. But if it comes right down to it, and I'm the only one within earshot, Dill, I'll come running until someone else can be there to take over.
I wish your last LAST weekends at faire didn't have to be so stressful. But, I am optimistic enough to hope that we will all be "Celebrating" joyfully on closing weekend!

Thank you, and thank everyone. Please, DON'T put yourself at risk if you can't afford to. Worst comes to worst, I WILL tell 'em my name is Dillasandra, and let 'em deal with that. And remember, they have to catch me first! Don't worry about that 'last, last weekends' thing. I've got a thick hide by now, and it actually bothers me more seeing the people I care about being hurt by it than it does me. And again, worst come to worst, it's serving as a shining example of how our Faire family bands together and supports one another when the going gets rough. Always keep in mind, even if the worst occours, Faire isn't the place, it's the people. And there's NOTHING they can to to take that away!

THANK YOU, everyone, for all the support Saturday. NO idea what may be going on today, as I didn't make it in ( Wet Goddess=Cranky Goddess=Sick Goddess! Nothing serious, though, and I'll be there next weekend. ) but I'm sure you're all handling it well. Hopefully, nothing bad is going on and you're all having a great, if roasting, day! I'll be anxiously waiting for news. Meanwhile, thank you again, love you all, and see you on the 15th!
