Ahoy one and all. This is just a quick post to let you know that I will be the new ed for 2008. After a good long meeting with Larry and Sara the other day, I have assumed that role. I am very excited about the new job and am beginning right away.
As you may or may not know, I have been with this Festival from the very first season (missing only one season 4 years ago). I have been performing at Festivals around the country for the past 20 years as Axel the Sot.
I have had a great working relationship with Larry and much of the staff and am looking forward to working closely with them this next season. After reading all your postings I have concluded that we all have one big thing in common...We all feel very passionate about The Great Lakes Medieval Faire! Let's face it, it's our playground. But it is a special kind of playground. What other place is like it? What other place do we give such a piece of ourselves too?
Renaissance Festivals, Medieval Faires... They are unique. They are a true event that gives us enough time and texture to truly embrace almost as a lifestlye as well as family. A meeting ground of "like minded people" as well as people from all walks of life. This is what I have embraced for 20 years and why I am so glad to have this opportunity to contribute more fully in something I love.
I will be talking more about the upcoming season later and welcome your input. I thank Larry for this chance, and now it's time for us all to get very excited about the 2008 GREAT LAKES MEDIEVAL FAIRE!!!
