I know lots of people are looking for a faire fix after the lonely winter months, so I thought I'd post this.
The Ohio State University Medieval and Renaissance Faire will be taking place on the OSU campus May 2nd, from 11am to 6pm. It takes place on the South Oval and West Lawn. This year's theme is The Norman Invasion; 1066 - Battle for the Shire.
The Olde Caravan will be performing there again this year. We had a blast doing it last year, and we were very impressed with their volunteer cast. It's not as far away as ORF, and it's a nice little pick-me-up while we wait for GLMF.
Hope to see some of you there!

I am glad to see someone posted about this faire here. A group from Pittsburgh is planning to make trek for the first time this year. Yes, the winter is loooong, and even though we had a great time at Renstock, July's opening day is still a long way off. Terry Griffith is playing there this year (his first time).
So start making your plans now folks! Car pools, directions, babysitters, whatever. Hope to see you there!

I'm down here in Columbus already. I haven't decided if I want to check it out or not, it depends on what kind of time I have, considering classes end the 15th.

Reminder: The OSU faire is THIS Saturday! Not too late to make the drive and get a FREE faire fix. And hang with some crazy gypsies. Hope to see all (at least some) of you there! -Kara a.k.a. Illyana Beshalde

Great times! FOr such a small place, I thought it packed a nice punch. Tiny chess board is tiny.

Yes, The Olde Caravan did well and had a lot of fun... except for me. I took a spill playing gypsyball and I'll be on crutches for awhile, but I took the opportunity to watch some of their independants, and part of their chess match.

Ok, bumping this up for the 2010 version of this. Info can be found here cmrf.org.ohio-state.edu/Faire Date: Saturday, May 1, 2010 Location: The Ohio State University Campus 1739 N. High Street Mirror Lake Hollow (The South Oval) Columbus, OH 43210 Time: The faire begins at 11:00am and ends at 6:00pm. I might make a trip down there not sure yet. If I do, I will probably take my usual route and get off 71 S at exit 212. That is the way I go to get to Brit's. From there, I can find High St easy enough, as it is like the main drag.

Trevor. Don't you mean EXIT 112? Which would be Hudson Street in Columbus.
Where I-71 and I-76 meet is exit 209, so 212 would be 3 miles North of there and there is NO exit at that point The next one would be exit 218 which is route 18 that would take you to Medina.
After 20 plus years of driving a truck I pretty much know most of those numbers by heart.
HANK.

Yeah, that was a type-o After going back and forth, I have a pretty good grasp on those exits also. 218 is the exit that has a Dairy Queen. 220 is 271 151-131 is the worst stretch of 71 as it is only 2 lanes and that is usually where the traffic jams are. 140, the gas station has one of those crappy one room bathrooms that you have to wait forever to use. 131 is the best place to get gas before you actually get into Columbus proper.

I'm definitely going, but I haven't decided whether I want to brave the bus wearing garb. If I do go in garb I won't be going as Puck, I figured the weather would be terrible around here, so I grabbed my Pepper the Piper in-progress costume. Of course now it's like 83 degrees today.
